Kimley-Horn is Hiring a Construction inspector Near Ocala, FL

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for a Construction Engineering Inspector to assist Engineers with the completion of construction projects in our Ocala, FL office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage construction phase services including contract administration and construction monitoring from pre-construction through project closeout consisting of municipal / private utility type projects.
  • Construction administration responsibilities include client coordination, response to RFI’s, processing of change orders, shop drawing review, construction schedule and approval of contractor pay applications
  • Monitor single or multiple site construction activities for conformance with project plans and specifications
  • Troubleshoot construction issues providing alternative solutions and value engineering in collaboration with engineering staff
  • Review bid documents and technical specifications
  • Perform Constructability Reviews
  • Review or help put together Engineer Estimates for design projects going out for bid
  • Review bids on projects
  • Help evaluate and review bids and contractors
  • May provide construction observation training and mentoring of junior engineering staff
  • May conduct meetings with clients and contractors
  • Assist engineers with project permitting including permit applications and certifications

Qualifications

  • High school degree / equivalent or better
  • Construction Superintendent / Foreman experience orengineering inspection experience
  • Strong understanding of municipal specifications, governmental agencies (FDOT) specifications, details, and practices
  • Must be able to read plans and specificaitons
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety practices
  • Must communicate well
  • Must have a working knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Willing to travel within the state of FL
