Kimley-Horn is Hiring a Public Involvement Project Manager Near Reston, VA

OverviewKimley-Horn is looking for an Experienced Public Involvement Project Manager in the Reston, Virginia (VA) office! This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and foster meaningful relationships with clients, stakeholders, and the communities we serve.
  • Develop and implement strategic communications and engagement plans that address the needs and include the voices of diverse communities.
  • Lead and grow a public involvement practice and manage and expand a team.
  • Manage project outreach activities including managing public engagement, preparing presentations, communicating with community members, businesses, and organizations to explain the project scope, impacts, benefits, mitigations, etc.
  • Support the development and facilitation of events including public open houses, workshops, public hearings, neighborhood meetings, ground breakings, ribbon cuttings, conferences, one-on-one meetings stakeholder meetings and other public events.
  • Develop public-facing materials including postcards, fact sheets, emails, and announcements.
  • Support and monitor scheduling and production deadlines to meet internal and external client requests for communications materials.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Assist with construction coordination efforts with contractors.
  • Perform project management duties such as managing large tasks and projects, performing research, report writing, leading public involvement meetings, and maintaining client relations.
  • Develop schedules, review invoices, manage progress reports, prepare scopes, and track budgets.
  • Mentor and develop staff in an environment that encourages teamwork, initiative, and growth.
Qualifications
  • 8 years of experience in communications and/or outreach with infrastructure, transportation, or other complex projects
  • Experience managing public sector clients providing high waulity deliverables with exceptional service
  • Construction communications experience
  • Bachelors or Master Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Planning, Government Relations, or related field
  • Exceptional command of English, with excellent written/oral communication and proofing skills. Experience writing for multiple audiences and presenting technical concepts in a clear and concise structure
  • Excellent people skills include communicating, listening, and summarizing information, documenting interactions, and problem-solving or reducing conflicts
  • Customer service mindset
  • Ability to interface with a variety of clients and the public
  • Experience with the development and implementation of public outreach and or communications plans.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Flexibility to periodically work outside regular working hours and travel, as required for business needs. Must have a valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and insurance (we reimburse mileage)
