Kinder Morgan is Hiring an Operations Supervisor Near Ashtabula, OH

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in setting up, operating and maintaining conveyors, heavy equipment rail car loading and unloading involving a mix of bulk products

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Effectively communicate to Union employees
  • Oversee safety training program of all personnel
  • Effectively communicate with rail road and trucking and vessel companies to ensure continued operations
  • Train subordinates in bulk material handling
  • Effectively manage the unloading of lake and ocean vessels
• Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations and policies • Has understanding and grasp of environmental regulations
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals
  • Schedules Union employees
  • Must be available to work any shift in a 24/7 operation, including holidays and weekends as required
  • Primary shift will be night shift
  • Cover vacations and alternate shifts when needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

EDUCATION: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE / SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:
  • 3 years of related experience required

Must have knowledge of bulk product handling, modes of transportation
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license

Must be able to obtain and maintain TWIC or other clearances as required.
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to multi-task with multiple priorities and time frames
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and also, but not limited to: heights in excess of 5 feet, moving mechanical parts, uneven terrain and high noise level in the work environment

  • Required to stand, walk and climb for extended periods of time

  • Communicate with supervision and co-workers via radio and hand signals

  • While performing the duties of this job,the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Must be willing to carry company issued pager and/or cell phone and be on call for work as may be required, assigned and scheduled

  • Following training, this position will be assigned to work primarily on the night shift.

  • Must be willing to work different shifts and overtime, weekends, holidays as directed by operations

  • Must be willing to work as a team, take direction from the manager, keep required work schedules, and focus on details and follow company work and safety rules

  • Must be willing to work inside and outside subject to extreme weather conditions

Must be willing to work with other supervisors as a team
