Job Summary Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Quality Improvement (QI) will develop strategies to plan, organize and coordinate agency compliance efforts for licensure, accreditation, and contractual agreements. The Director of QI leads in collaboration a culture of continuous quality improvement, innovation and transformation.
Essential Functions - Oversee agency compliance with relevant county, state, federal and COA regulations/standards.
- Supervise and manage the QI department by establishing team goals, completing evaluations, hiring, training and coaching the team members to maintain client record audit readiness.
- Actively participate during agency external audits, program reviews and site certifications.
- Ensure privacy of client PHI through compliance with HIPAA by establishing/maintaining procedures and protocols associated with the release of client information and educating staff on all regulations associated with maintaining client confidentiality
- Prepare and present QI in LOS meeting
- Plan and conduct new hire orientation on HIPAA, and QI related regulations
- Attend required DMH QIC meetings
- Conduct clinical documentation training for staff
- Create and maintain QI and related policies
- Ensure communication of changes and updates to compliance and documentation requirement for all agency client programs
- Serve as a resource for staff implementation of departmental Quality Management and Utilization Review
- Sensitive and responsive to the cultural differences among the agency's client population
- Works to promote and support justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion at all levels in the organization.
- Works to promote a trauma-informed work culture
The Director of QI will take on special projects or additional duties as assigned.
Competency Requirements -Highly organized
-Experience with training and orienting staff on regulatory updates
-Ability to speak, read, write and understand English
-Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
-Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
-Must have working knowledge of Council on Accreditation (COA), DMH, DCFS and Probation standards and regulations
Education and Experience -Master's degree in Social Work or related field
-Experience in Quality Improvement/Utilization Review/Clinical Records Programs in a hospital or mental health setting preferred
-Experience in a supervisory position preferred
Certifications/Licenses -LMFT or LCSW Clinical license issued by the Board of Behavioral Sciences
-Valid CA driver's license
Additional Requirements -Tuberculosis clearance
-Department of Justice/Fingerprint clearance
-Satisfactory completion of health screening
-Proof of legal eligibility to work in the United States
-Satisfactory driving record

Physical Demands While performing the duties of a Director of QI, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and use his/her fingers to manipulate a keyboard or writing instrument.
