The Audio Video Technician for Classroom Support is responsible for providing technical support and maintenance for audio, video, and multimedia equipment in classrooms and lecture halls. This role ensures that all audiovisual (AV) systems are fully operational and provides assistance to faculty, staff, and students to facilitate smooth and effective presentations and lectures.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Support:
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support for AV equipment in classrooms.
  • Assist faculty, staff, and students with the setup and operation of AV systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AV equipment, including projectors, microphones, speakers, and video conferencing systems.
  1. Maintenance and Repair:
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on AV equipment.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for major repairs or equipment servicing.
  • Maintain an inventory of AV equipment and ensure that all systems are in working order.
  1. Installation and Setup:
  • Assist in the installation and configuration of new AV equipment in classrooms and lecture halls.
  • Ensure that all AV installations comply with institutional standards and requirements.
  • Test and verify the functionality of newly installed equipment.
  1. Training and Documentation:
  • Conduct training sessions for faculty and staff on the proper use of AV equipment.
  • Develop and update user manuals and instructional materials for AV systems.
  • Provide guidance on best practices for utilizing AV technology in teaching and presentations.
  1. Event Support:
  • Provide AV support for special events, meetings, and conferences held on campus.
  • Ensure that all AV needs for events are met, including setup, operation, and troubleshooting during events.
  1. Customer Service:
  • Deliver excellent customer service to all users of AV systems.
  • Respond promptly to support requests and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor while assisting users.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Associate's degree in a related field preferred. Relevant certifications or equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in AV support or a related field.
  • Experience with AV systems used in educational settings is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in the use of AV equipment, including projectors, sound systems, video conferencing tools, and control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Familiarity with both Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move AV equipment (up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to work in various environments, including classrooms, lecture halls, and event spaces.

Work Environment:

  • This position may require working evenings and weekends to support events and accommodate the needs of the institution.
  • The role may involve working in multiple campus locations and traveling between them as needed.
