King's Way Christian Schools is Hiring a Fine Arts Director & Choir Teacher Near Vancouver, WA

General Description and Qualifications: King’s Way Christian Schools is a private, Christian school dedicated to serving students from 12 months through 12th grade located in beautiful Vancouver, Washington. King’s Way partners with families to provide a Christ-centered education for the whole child, leading to life change in each student. We are currently seeking a full-time faculty member to perform two part-time roles. The combined position is serving as a Choir Teacher for secondary students approximately .7 FTE and leading our Fine & Performing Arts Department approximately .3 FTE.
As a Christian leader, the successful candidate shall prayerfully assist 6th - 12th grade students in learning attitudes and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society through Choir and vocal performance and shall prayerfully assist the department in program development and coordination. This guiding role is pivotal in ensuring a comprehensive and balanced Fine & Performing Arts [F&PA] department that maximizes opportunities for King’s Way students to to develop and grow in fulfilling their purpose to worship God and impact their word for Christ via the arts.
This role shall be filled by a person of spiritual maturity who will support the core values of King’s Way Christian Schools. KWCS staff and faculty are teachable, walk in wisdom, show integrity, are resilient, and pursue positive connections with all stakeholders.
Job DutiesChoir
  • Provide age appropriate instruction to students in grades 6-12 in Middle School choir, High School Choir, Ensemble, and other vocal performance based disciplines as agreed to with Administration;
  • Partner with parents in the education of their child(ren);
  • Collaborate with grade level peers, and others in curriculum implementation, lesson planning, and selecting music, preparing and supporting annual on-campus concerts;
  • Instruct on quality sound production, rhythm, reading music, ensemble performance, solo performance etc. including music selection for varying group skill levels;
  • Organize activities for each class including field trips and off-campus performances, including communication with parents, students, and administration;
  • Provide relevant and high quality instruction in a manner that maximizes student engagement and achievement and provides equitable and challenging learning experiences for all students, exemplifying excellence as defined by our teacher evaluation process;
Fine & Performing Arts Director
  • Oversee the F&PA program development through evaluation, revision, and alignment of the arts curriculum
  • Arrange for staff development, workshops, clinics, and staff meetings designed to improve instruction in the F&PA department
  • Provide coordination and support for instructors, leaders, and volunteers within the F&PA department
  • Assist with annual performance scheduling, field trip opportunities, and maintain a calendar of events
  • Work with Marketing, Advancement, and Principals to publicly promote the school, the arts, and build community relationships
  • Champion student success by coordinating yearbook content, submitting newsletter updates, and advertising educational, and performance activities
  • Oversee and manage the F&PA budget in cooperation with the school principals
General
  • Attend School Sponsored & Milestone Events (based on where you teach);
  • Seek to role-model a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ and provide for the spiritual nurture of students;
  • Demonstrate a spirit of cooperation with the administration;
Position Details: Salary is based upon education and experience ranging from $40,099 - $85,906. Certificated staff receive 12-month pay spread based upon actual days worked and are designated as overtime-exempt employees.
This role is scheduled over an extended school year including 208 working days, 7.5 hours/day, excluding a minimum 30-minute duty free lunch break. This includes working June and August with school year breaks (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Winter, Spring) and the month of July off. Start time is generally 15 minutes before school starts, and end time is generally 30 minutes after release. Additionally, 45-60 minutes can be scheduled 1-2 days/week for staff or other meetings. Non-school working days, including professional development and conferences, etc. are as assigned by principals.
Education, Experience, And Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in education or primary subject matter being taught;
  • Valid teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements;
  • Knowledge of overall operations of music, art, and theater programs;
  • Ability to coordinate preschool through 12th grade functions;
  • Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data;
  • Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to organize tasks and manage time to meet many and varied deadlines and communicate effectively with students, parents, school administrators and other staff, including the ability to discuss topics which may be sensitive;
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and core values of King’s Way Christian Schools;
  • Ability to use a variety of technology effectively for instruction including but not limited to Google Suite, ALMA (SIS); and Google Classroom;
  • 3 years of successful education of vocal performative is preferred;
  • Ability to develop and manage programs and budgets;
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive partnerships with parent community;
  • Knowledge of state policies governing extracurricular events and participation;
  • The candidate selected for this position will be required to pass a pre-employment background check;
  • Reports to 6-12 Principals;
