POSITION SUMMARY | Kitchen Assistant

Arrive at work mid-morning, working a few hours under the supervision of our Head Chef. Work with a friendly crew and leave work early in the afternoon. What more would you want from a part-time job as the Kitchen Assistant at The Pier, located at Kingland. Hours may vary for special events and occasions.

It’s a busy four hours where you’ll assist with meal preparation, serving, dishwashing and sanitation. Help with menu and recipe development, food ordering and supplies, and record keeping as needed.

Get ready to prepare everything from pastas and barbecue to salads and Paninis.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES | Kitchen Assistant

• Assist and complete food preparation, service and record keeping while maintaining health department rules and regulations.
• Run and maintain dishwasher, wash dishes as needed, maintain dish room sanitation.
• Have ability to follow oral and written instructions, and be able to read, interpret and present information efficiently and effectively.
• Ensure the freshness of all food products through the proper receiving and rotation of products.
• Ensure interaction with other Kingland employees is courteous and professional.
• Ability to come to work as scheduled, on time and in appropriate work attire, as requested by management and health codes.
• Other duties as assigned by Head Chef or other management members.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS | Kitchen Assistant

• Good time management skills, communication skills and the ability to take initiative, multi task and work under pressure.
• Basic general working knowledge of food service, inventory, management and tracking software, MS Outlook, Word and Excel to manage reservation system and to communicate with Kingland employees, vendors and management.
• Have a strong desire and love for work in food service, along with basic or better knowledge of all aspects in food service and sanitation.
• Obtain Serve Safe Certification, at Kingland expense, if required.

This position will be based out of our modern office location in Clear Lake, Iowa.
