JOB SUMMARY

Administers patient care to designated residents under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect resident care duties.

• Provides direct resident care according to hospital policies, procedures and accepted standards of practice and care.
• Administers and records prescribed medications (excluding intravenous), treatments and procedures.
• Participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of resident care.
• Assists the medical and nursing staff with examinations, treatments, special tests, and procedures.
• Participates in unit activities such as answering phones, call lights, distributing meals, environmental tasks, or other assigned duties.

• Graduate of an accredited high school or high school equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing
• At least 18 years old.
• Able to read and write the English language.
• Demonstrates proficiency of skills per checklist.
• Able to pass a written pharmacology exam.
• Able to perform considerable standing, walking, and lifting.
• Current license to practice professional practical nursing in the State of Mississippi.
• Current CPR certification.
• Maintains good physical and emotional health.
• Gives evidence of knowledge and ability to use proper channels of communication
• Is able to remain calm and function under stress.
• Demonstrates ability and cooperation in rotation of shift and/or duty areas.
• Promotes harmonious inter- and intra-departmental relationships.
