Blue Sky Wellness Center at Kings View Behavioral Health was developed in 2007 with funding from Fresno County as a consumer centered and consumer driven wellness and recovery environment for individuals with mental illness. The primary focus is on key health principles: dispensing hope, having freedom of choice, modeling self-determination and personal responsibility. We believe and know that members (consumers) can and do recover and heal from past trauma and mental illness.
Self-help and peer support are the foundation for Blue Sky's peer community. To provide oversight and implementation of principles and practices that will advance not only individual recovery and wellness for those served at the Center but will expedite the performance and recognition of the program as Center of Excellence. Provide oversight of the "Eight Dimensions of Wellness" educational program with focus on the principles of "engage, educate and inspire." Peer Support Personnel placement opportunities. Oversee the management and sustainability of a healthy consumer volunteer program. Employee supervision, support, mediation, performance evaluation, improvement planning, facilitate and provide in-service training for program staff. Monitor program outcome measures, provide monthly reports to Regional Director and County Contract Analyst. Ability to work independently and manage interruptions throughout the day. Work side by side with consumers in a way that they feel heard and supported. Be an advocate in our community for reducing the stigma related to mental illness.
How will I contribute
  • Responsible for managing program operations and delivery of peer support wellness groups and activities to the members served.
  • Provide program vision, goals, activities and development of action plans.
  • Oversee the management and sustainability of a healthy consumer volunteer program.
  • Provide leadership, supervision and guidance to multi-disciplinary staff.
  • Ensure program and contract adherence to wellness and recovery values.
  • Must exhibit a willingness to let consumers take the lead in their own Wellness and Recovery Action Plan (WRAP).
  • Must be skilled in diffusing conflicts among consumers and mentoring self-regulation skills.
  • Submit any and all incident reports directly to the Regional Director on a daily basis or as they occur.
  • Must be able to model patience, tolerance and kindness towards consumers and staff.
  • Employee supervision, support, mediation, performance evaluation, improvement planning, facilitate and provide in-service training for program staff.
  • Provide face to face support, encouragement and peer counseling to members on a variety of life issues.
  • Plan and actively participate in all key Blue Sky events.
  • Develop program outcome measures, provide monthly reports to Regional Director and County Contract Analyst.
  • Work side by side with consumers in a way that they feel heard and supported.
  • Attend monthly meetings with consumers, gather feedback to determine if support and growth needs are being met.
  • Ability to work independently and to manage multiple interruptions throughout the day.
  • Willingness to help in all areas as called upon in the consumer environment.
  • Be an advocate for reducing stigma related to mental illness as well as cultural humility in working with diverse populations.
What I bring
  • Bachelors Degree and At least 5 years of mental health recovery, either personal or working in a recovery-oriented mental health program with 2 two years of experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Class C Driving License
  • Ability to develop and coordinate training of Peer Support Personnel and volunteers; cultivation of work habits and job skills essential for supported employment.
