Kinross Gold Corporation is Hiring a Tool Room Attendant - Maintenance Near Elko, NV

Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource in the largest private mining land package in the U.S. The mine is located in White Pine County, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. Bald Mountain and the nearby Round Mountain mine make up Kinross' Nevada operations.
Bald Mountain is an important contributor to the economy of northeastern Nevada and maintains a comprehensive environmental strategy including wildlife protection, habitat recovery and education.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Maintenance Trainer, the tool room attendant will maintain the mobile maintenance tool room. They will perform routine checks, tests, gauging, and inspection of tools and equipment. They will also build hydraulic hoses as needed for mine equipment. They will provide training on the usage of tools and equipment used in shop areas and stored in the tool room and support the training department by providing new hire training to newly hired maintenance personnel.
Essential Functions
  • Maintain the tool room, and keep the area organized.
  • Check tools out to mine personnel.
  • Receive tools and complete tool inspections.
  • Keep an accurate, orderly, and accessible tool inventory.
  • Ensure the tool room is supplied with working tools by coordinating with supervisors, vendors needed items, and filling out purchase requests.
  • We will be using computer programs we have at Kinross Bald Mountain (e.g., JDE, Sis-Web, ET, Cummins InSite, TEXA-DIESEL, etc.).
  • Fill out the proper paperwork for employee tool replacements.
  • Will assist the training department with training when needed. (ex. Showing techs how to use JDE, file updates, getting training materials gathered, signing them off on wash bay, crane operation, sites, etc.)
  • Manage unoccupied toolboxes for new employees.
  • Build hydraulic hoses as needed.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
  • Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the state.
  • Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct them.
  • Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
  • Able to organize and maintain a constantly changing database for essential record keeping.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. The employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
  • Working knowledge of mobile maintenance tools.
  • Strong working knowledge and skill with a PC utilizing on-site database systems, word processing, and spreadsheet programs.
  • Must be able to perform basic tool rebuilds.
  • They must be trainable and able to train other people on the tools and equipment stored in the tool room.
  • Must be able to work closely with tool vendors.
  • Ability to identify and remove from service any defective tooling.
  • Ability to work without constant, direct supervision.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Must have solid verbal and written communication skills, including reading and understanding repair manuals and schematics.
  • Ability to function within the qualifications outlined physical demands.
