Kinsa Group is Hiring a Quality Assurance Manager - Food Near Youngstown, OH

Kinsa is recruiting for a: QA Manager

Location: Youngstown OH (100% Onsite, Relocation Provided)

With over 60 years of experience, our client is a respected food & beverage co-manufacturer. Located in Youngstown, OH, their 119,000 state-of-the art manufacturing, warehousing and distribution facility is nestled on an 10 acre campus which also features a gourmet Italian restaurant. The plant is Green, organic & nonGMO certified. They are looking to add a QA Manager to their team. In this critical role, you will help maintain their high food safety & quality standards.

  • 5 years FSQA experience 3 years of leadership.

Key Responsibilities and Goals:

  • Ensure quality products and processes by establishing and enforcing quality standards and testing materials and products.
  • Develop raw material standards by studying manufacturing requirements, conferring and negotiation with suppliers and devising testing evaluation tests, methods and procedures.
  • Establish standards for the disposition of finished product by devising evaluation tests, methods and procedures.
  • Creates product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintains product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements.
  • Organize and manage internal and external quality audits.
  • Manage sanitation programs & staff at the facility.
  • Hire, coach, counsel, and discipline employees.
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Develop and document Preventive Controls (PC) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points).
  • Liaison with the USDA, FDA, ODA and other regional or local inspectors.
  • Ensure appropriate access of files for all employees, facilities, and management of all FSQA & regulatory information.
  • Manage all USDA and FDA label approvals, recalls, administer all corrective actions in regards to inspections, non-conformances.
  • Manage Regulatory Specialist. Coordinate as needed with Human Resources, Supply Chain and warehouse.
  • Oversight of Non-GMO, and Gluten Free (GFCO) programs
  • Oversee the development, maintenance, validation and revision of the Identity Preserved Foods Systems.
  • Oversight of SQF Certification process and other 3rd party certificates and programs.
  • Administer the Food Safety and Quality Management System.
  • Provide real-time guidance during food processing to product developers and production staff.
  • Manage any problems and/or deviations that may affect the quality or safety of the product or data and organize and participate in corrective actions as needed.
  • Oversee laboratory operations and the execution of routine and non-routine analytical methods in the laboratory and production environments.
  • Manage all environmental monitoring, testing, plant hygiene and zoning, and bacterial testing for facility and product(s).
  • Utilize Process Authority credentials by conducting in-house testing and presenting opinion regarding the safety and appropriateness of the food products preservation process.
  • Manage Retort records and all Deviations administered to Process Authority.
  • Develop and coach quality staff daily as well as administer annual reviews.
  • Assist in the development of short and long term quality control objectives and development of quality protocols for new and existing products.
  • Ensure QA team obtains the necessary training to grow personally and professionally.
  • In conjunction with R&D, manage all FSQA and regulatory standards and policies as pertaining to R&D.

Competencies Needed for Success:

  • Associates degree or Bachelors degree preferred.
  • SQF and HACCP experience required. Must be willing to obtain certifications.
  • 5 years Quality Assurance/Control experience in a food manufacturing required.
  • 3 years of leading/managing a quality team.
  • Experience working with third party auditors.
  • Experience with QA measuring and testing equipment.
