Kirkham Michael is a growing company in need of an energetic and knowledgeable individual to fill our entry level full-time Assistant Construction Observer position. This position will be located in either our Ellsworth, Cheney, Hays, Salina, or Garden City, Kansas offices based on applicants’ preference.

Primary Function:

Performs or assists other technicians or engineers in the performance of routine engineering tests in the laboratory or field, or inspection on construction projects for compliance with standard practice, specification, plans and special provisions. Maintains daily job log and is familiar with plans and specifications. No initial responsibility for the direction of others. Performs several basic engineering and mathematical procedures, which require following instructions and guidelines, and providing accurate and complete records of that work. Assist experienced staff performing inspection and testing on energy and transportation related construction projects. Receives supervision from senior-level staff.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic math skills.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• CIT certifications and/or construction inspection experience preferred but not required.

Monday to Friday overnight travel is required for this position. Lodging and per diem paid by the company. Work environment is primarily outdoors. Lifting of 50 lbs, walking and standing for long periods of time.

Pay starts at $21.00 per hour if no inspection experience or certifications.

Interviews are anticipated to take place in the first week of July.
