Kirkwood Community College is Hiring an Operations Specialist II - Health Occupations Near Rapids, IA

JOB GOAL:

To advance the college’s mission, vision, principles, values and strategic initiatives through continuous improvement decisions.
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision, the Operations Specialist II will be expected to carry out various duties associated with the everyday operation of the Health Occupations Department. The position requires a strong customer service approach with visitors, current and prospective students, and other college faculty and staff. In addition, the individual must have strong organizational skills and the ability to work with a variety of individuals with several projects occurring at one time.
The typical work schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday from either 7:30 am to 4:30 pm or 7:45 am to 4:45 pm.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support CE programs including, but not limited to: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Long Term Care, Phlebotomy, LPN IV, Medical Coding, American Heart Association (AHA), EFDA, EMSTracker
  • Learn and execute essential functions in Lumens
  • Learn and execute essential functions in the CE Contract System
  • Proctor CNA computer exams (~3-4 times per month)
  • Provide exceptional customer service through answering student questions and registration
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
  • Be able and willing to represent the College and Allied Health Department in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, and the community we serve.
  • Must be willing to support and work within a strong and nurturing departmental team
  • Be able and willing to speak to students and community groups
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with students, colleagues, staff, and administration.
  • Possess strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Publisher. Training will be required in the computer systems that are used by Kirkwood Community College.
  • Be willing to provide departmental support and complete tasks, as assigned, in a timely and professional manner.
  • Be an energetic individual with attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively in an environment where interruptions of work occur frequently.
  • Hours can be flexible as long as consistent; hoping for 7:30 – 4:30 but can negotiate. Occasional evening and weekend assignments.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing. Occasional (10-33%) Travel to off-campus site, overnight travel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma
  • Experience in an office setting or with customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and human relation skills
  • Ability to work independently, accept responsibility with limited supervision, manage tasks to completion, and work with frequent interruptions
  • Familiarity with basic technology, including Microsoft Office
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
  • Healthcare background preferred
  • Associate’s Degree
