Job Objective:
Promote physical, social, and emotional health services designed to help students and staff achieve their maximum potential to benefit from the educational program.
Note: Legal limitations prohibit the diagnosis and treatment of individuals beyond the evaluation of symptoms and administering first aid in emergencies. Students with suspected problems are referred to their parents/guardians for follow-up by their personal physician and/or other medical provider.
Minimum Qualificatication
High School Diploma or GED
Current First Aid and CPR certification from an approved provider
Two years of work experience as a health assistant, personal care technician, hospital ward clerk, physician's office or other equivalent experience in the medical profession
Prior experience with physically/medically challenged children
Previous experience in a school setting working with children or adolescents preferred.
Evidence of a clear record as determined by the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII).

Job Duties, Responsibilities, and Essential Functions:
Perform all assigned duties according to the policies, rules, and regulations of the Kirtland Board of Education, Ohio Department of Health, Ohio Department of Education, and local health authorities. Comply with all Federal mandates.
Obtain students' health history, as needed, using a variety of information sources. Ensure the confidentiality of privileged information.
Provide follow-up activities for students, parents, and school personnel regarding suspected medical, visual, or hearing problems, including appropriate referrals, recommendations, and readmission procedures, as needed. Enforce all district health policies and procedures.
Attend appropriate meetings and serve on committees that support the provision of effective health service and address environmental health issues.
Assist with research, planning, and development of special projects or reports, when requested.
Develop rapport and maintain the confidence of staff, parents and students.
Consult with the Intervention Assistance Team as requested.
Share in the responsibility for authorized committee work, as requested.
Participate in programs and activities sponsored by the school and/or parent support organizations, as requested.
Participate in professional growth activities (e.g., professional associations, course work, workshops, seminars, etc.). Share knowledge with colleagues.
Serve as a role model for students. Demonstrate responsibility, citizenship, respect, and courtesy.
Perform other duties, as directed.

Ability to lift, carry, or move equipment or supplies weighing up to twenty pounds.
Ability to occasionally work with young children in activities that may require stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
