Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist and report to their Kitchell Safety Manager for tasks and daily safety issues.
- Prepare daily written reports of safety observations during inspections and assign the necessary corrective action. Assign completion dates for corrective actions as appropriate.
- Take digital pictures as necessary during inspections to support observations.
- Has the authority to STOP work in an area to remedy a serious or life-threatening safety deficiency.
- Report incidents, unsafe conditions and any immediate dangerous situations to the Kitchell Project Superintendent and the Safety Manager.
- Prepare and conduct trade contractor safety walks.
- Make safety training recommendations to trade contractors.
- Identify training needs for Kitchell project team. Provide training, including OSHA 10 hour courses.
- Participate in off-hour or weekend high risk activities as needed.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings, communicating requirements and expectations to trade partners and pre-planning for any high-risk activities.
- Provide site-specific safety orientation for all Kitchell and trade contractor employees.
- Monitor first aid supplies, emergency equipment and fire extinguishers on site are properly maintained.
- Ensure that required safety signage and workplace notifications are posted and maintained.
- Attend all site-wide safety meetings.
- Participate in all OSHA inspections on assigned project(s).
- Monitor and enforce the requirements of the project specific safety plan, Kitchell safety manual, applicable federal and/or state OSHA standards, and any owner specific requirements.
- Attend safety committee meetings and trade partner meetings.
- Monitor safety recalls for commonly used construction products or equipment.
- Minimim of 5 years of dedicatated building construction safety with at least 5 years of experience in construction safety process management.
- Experience and training on Fall protection, Scaffolds, Excavation, Confined space, Crane/equipment operations, Electrical and Incident investigation.
- Bachelor's degree with a minimal of 3 years of construction field safety experience
- OSHA 500 certification.
- OSHA 502 certification.
- Current CPR/AED/Emergency First Aid certification.
- Valid driver's license.
- Valid Motor Vehicle Record with no restrictions or suspensions.
- Valid Motor Vehicle Record with no restrictions or suspensions.
- May travel between projects sites on a daily basis.
