Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center - KIAC is Hiring a Director of Marketing and Development Near Bremerton, WA

Company Description

Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center (KIAC) is a non-profit organization located in Bremerton, WA. KIAC serves the immigrant community by providing education, advocacy, and social justice support. The organization is dedicated to creating a community where every individual, regardless of their place of birth, has equal access to justice, respect, and opportunities.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Director of Marketing and Development at KIAC. The Director of Marketing and Development will be responsible for planning and implementing marketing strategies, managing marketing campaigns, conducting market research, and driving sales initiatives. Additionally, the director will oversee the organization's fundraising efforts and develop relationships with donors and partners. While the role is primarily based in Bremerton, WA, some remote work is allowed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 Comprehensive Fundraising Strategy and Execution

  • Create and implement the overall fundraising strategy, including marketing and outreach. This will include continuation of successful programs and creation of new programs to engage supporters and donors.
  • Create and execute an integrated annual fundraising plan that provides for the annual budgetary needs of the organization. This fundraising plan will include donor engagement and stewardship; new and existing events; community fundraising vehicles; grant applications; and donor communications, including social media.
  • With ED and board, continue and expand individual donor giving strategies, including donor identification, research, cultivation, and solicitation of gifts; ongoing stewardship of existing donors, and development of new audiences, towards the goal of donor retention and growth.
  • Oversee the grants program, including proposal writing, research of new grant opportunities and tracking and filing timely reports. Work closely with Immigration Legal and Family Service program directors to match potential funding sources with programming.
  • Work with existing corporate partners, sponsors and community partners to understand their giving priorities and work to cultivate and maintain mutually beneficial relationships. Create all sponsorship materials, proposals, invoices and agreements.
  • Prepare and oversee annual development budget
  • Measure and analyze results of strategies.
  • Oversee external communications that foster connections with constituents and donors.
  • Actively participate in Board meetings as the Development Liaison, serving on the Development Committee, attending meetings, presenting updates and helping steward board engagement in organizational fundraising and community engagement.

Data Management & Analysis

  • Responsible for timely acknowledgment of donors and supporters, including tax receipts, thank-you letters, community acknowledgments, and ongoing stewardship in partnership with the Executive Director and other team members.
  • Responsible for entries to and maintenance of donor database, as well as donor tracking, cultivating and stewarding.
  • Responsible for quarterly and annual analysis of fundraising performance, including annual giving programs, donor acquisition and retention, event outcomes and community fundraising campaigns.
  • Responsible for providing monthly fundraising reports to the board and reports to ED as requested.

Events

  • Responsible for AnnualDinner & Auction event, including planning and organizing the event, overseeing volunteer committee, procurement, night-of responsibilities, and follow-up.
  • Responsible for planning and executing alternative fundraising strategies, including but not limited to online events or alternate revenue-generating strategies. 
  • Responsible for KIAC’s successful participation in annual community fundraising vehicles, such as Kitsap Great Give, One Call for All, Giving Tuesday, and others as identified.
  • Responsible for in-person events, including house parties and community-building events to engage and expand community of supporters.

Marketing, Public Relations & Community Engagement

  • Serve as the spokesperson for the organization when responding to media.
  • Responsible for creating development plans that raise public awareness about key issues and increase community engagement.
  • Responsible for the creation of (or coordination of consultants for) all marketing materials, including postcards, mailings, email blasts and social media posts.
  • Responsible for oversight of website support and edits as needed to align with development campaigns and organizational outreach goals.
  • Responsible for managing all mailings — working with printers, mail house and internal teams to coordinate mailings of marketing materials.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to KIAC’s mission and work for the well-being and empowerment of immigrants
  • 3-plus years' experience in nonprofit development work with proven track record of raising money 
  • Market Planning, Marketing Management, and Market Research skills
  • Experience in developing and implementing marketing strategies
  • Strong sales and marketing knowledge
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in fundraising and donor management
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Knowledge of the immigrant community and social justice issues is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business Administration, or related field

  • Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.

Skills and experience:

  • Self-starter, resourceful, and creative leader capable of managing diverse teams to reach a common goal. You will work with the KIAC staff, board leadership and fundraising project consultants to meet fundraising goals and will oversee and manage a team of department volunteers.
  • Problem Solving - Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems.
  • Direct fundraising experience, including proven success asking for gifts.
  • Strong data management skills, including knowledge of Bloomerang and other CRM platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong grant-writing experience and social media expertise.
  • Time Management - Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
  • Working Under Pressure - Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations.
  • Proven proficiency in Excel, Word, basic web management programs and Mailchimp.
  • Graphic design skills and experience with design programs such as Canva.
  • Interpersonal - Ability to get along well with a variety of personalities and individuals.
  • Mathematics - Accurately perform basic computations and approach practical problems by choosing appropriately from a variety of mathematical techniques.
  • Motivation - Ability to inspire oneself and others to reach a goal and/or perform to the best of their ability.
  • Organized - Possessing the trait of being organized or following a systematic method of performing a task.
