Team OverviewKKR’s Public Policy and Stakeholder Engagement team works closely with our colleagues in Communications, Sustainability, and Corporate Citizenship to protect KKR’s license to operate. We evaluate stakeholder issues in connection with prospective investments, monitor regulatory changes affecting the industries in which we invest, and helps the Firm and our portfolio companies navigate these issues. Moreover, the team helps the Firm and its portfolio companies anticipate and respond to risks and opportunities in the context of government, stakeholder, and media scrutiny. The Public Policy and Stakeholder engagement team collaborates with our investment teams and subject matter experts to identify, manage, and assess public policy and stakeholder related matters to make decisions on investments, communicate effectively with our investors, and adhere to compliance and regulation guidelines. The Public Policy and Stakeholder Engagement team is also involved in our investment decisions by applying due diligence in the integration of investment processes with public policy and stakeholder opportunities or risks. These responsibilities include conducting a pre-investment screening to evaluate critical policy, regulatory, or reputational concerns and post-investment portfolio management to mitigate risk and seize opportunities.
Position SummaryKKR is looking for an intern to join the KKR Public Affairs team with a focus on research, tracking and engagement of stakeholders and events organized by the KKR Public Policy and Stakeholder Engagement team. This role would be based in our Washington, DC office and report to the Managing Director and Director, Public Policy and Stakeholder Engagement.
Responsibilities
  • Researching biographical information on relevant stakeholders, compiling briefing documents, and tracking engagement.
  • Researching public policy and regulatory developments to support the Firm and its portfolio companies.
  • Assisting with PPT design, supporting the presentation design in line with KKR brand standards.
  • Tracking and assisting with Public Affairs event support, maintaining RSVP lists, event calendars and checklists.
  • Other projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Sophisticated understanding and genuine interest in public policy, politics, and economic issues.
  • Preference for a college junior or senior, or a graduate student.
  • Preference for previous professional experiences, such as an internship in government, on a campaign, or with a trade association, or NGO.
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESS
  • Interest in working in the Public Policy, Regulatory, Political, or Communications field
  • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to multi-task several projects on tight deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written, to engage with members at all levels across the firm.
  • Excellent research skills
  • Team player with interpersonal skills that can develop relationships and collaborate with individuals across a variety of sectors and backgrounds.
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced and pressurized
