The Commercial Intern will be responsible for learning and assisting in the sales and relationship management cycle of a commercial customer. This is an internship. You must be a sophomore, junior or senior currently enrolled at an accredited four year college or university or have graduated within the last six months to qualify.

- Complete onboarding process to include Kleberg Bank history and systems; attend weekly sales meetings.
- Observe loan assistants to learn the systems and practices involved with relationship management.
- Review personal banking, private banking, and consumer lending to understand the deposit gathering and private banking sales cycle to include customer interaction.
- Shadow commercial team to include Kingsville Relationship Manager to discuss approaches to relationship management including but not limited to extension, expansion, and acquisition efforts.
- Shadow Director of Business Development to discuss and assist with procurement of loans and deposits for new and existing customers.
- Work with Relationship Managers and Chief Commercial Banking Officer with entering loan and deposit opportunities into the Sageworks system focusing efforts on managing and implementing calls and meetings to enhance customer relationships.
- Assist with the calling efforts both on the phone and in person, and maintenance of customer accounts utilizing the business development and relationship management skills, systems, and software previously acquired.
- Compile and present a white paper discussing the value added from the internship, what was learned of the banking process as it pertains to Kleberg Bank, and provide recommendations for at least three process or procedure improvements from time spent shadowing different departments to be presented to Leadership.
- Utilize the knowledge gained during the internship program to maintain and expand on relationships introduced.
- Basic financial skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Prior sales experience is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office products required
- Finance or accounting major
