JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Senior Big Query Engineer with GCP expertise, you will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our data warehouse solutions. You will collaborate with senior stakeholders, data scientists, and engineers to ensure our data infrastructure is efficient, scalable, and highly performant.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Strategic Data Architecture: Lead the design and architecture of BigQuery solutions on GCP, ensuring alignment with business objectives and data strategy.
• Data Warehouse Development: Develop and optimize data warehouses using BigQuery, ensuring data integrity, performance, and scalability.
• ETL/ELT Leadership: Design, implement, and manage ETL/ELT processes to ensure seamless data integration from various sources into BigQuery.
• Performance Tuning: Conduct advanced performance tuning and optimization of BigQuery queries and datasets to ensure cost-efficiency and speed.
• Team Leadership: Mentor and guide a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business leaders to understand data needs and deliver high-impact solutions.
• Security and Compliance: Ensure data solutions meet stringent security standards and comply with relevant regulations and policies.
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Implement robust monitoring solutions and proactively troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data architectures, ETL processes, and operational procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience: 15 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a related field.
• Cloud Expertise: Deep expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, particularly BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage.
• Programming Skills: Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages such as Python or Java for data processing tasks.
• Data Modeling: Expert knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, data warehousing, and data integration.
• Big Data Tools: Extensive experience with big data tools and frameworks such as Apache Beam, Apache Airflow, or similar.
• Leadership: Proven leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring technical teams.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications: GCP certifications such as Google Professional Data Engineer or Google Professional Cloud Architect.
• Machine Learning: Experience with integrating machine learning models into data pipelines.
• DevOps Knowledge: Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• NoSQL Experience: Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra.
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-specific data compliance and regulatory requirements.
