GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Develop product manufacturing plans to meet KLINGER RCM USA product design, quality, and cost requirements through knowledge and experience in machine selection, tooling design and construction, process design, process validation, design for manufacturability, and project management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o APQP (Advance Product Quality Planning)
o PFMEA
o Design Reviews
o Prototype Builds
o Process Testing (PV, Design for manufacturing, and key supplier development)
o 8D problem solving and root cause analysis
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
High degree of mechanical aptitude; Working experience leading/participating in APQP, DVP&R, PFMEA, and 8D activities; Understanding of Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Quality Methods and Procedures (ISO9000, IATF16949), and Process Improvement.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
BSME, BSMET, BSIE degree; Graduate degree in the field of Mechanical, Manufacturing, Process, or Industrial Engineering is a plus.
3 years experience in sealing, molding, rubber/plastic extrusions, paint and coatings, and/or automotive products related field.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Skills including: the ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format; ability to effectively present information to top management, customers, suppliers, KLINGER Thermoseal employees, and public groups.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Skills including: the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane, algebra, solid geometry and trigonometry.
COMPUTER/SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED
Mastery: Presentation/PowerPoint, Word Processing/Typing.
Intermediate: Contact Management, Microsoft Office tools including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access.
Understanding of and/or experience using CAE tools including: AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks.
Understanding of and/or experience using Minitab.
CRITICAL THINKING/ANALYTICAL/PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS
Skills including: analysis, synthesis of information, problem-solving, creative thinking, etc.
PLANNING
Skills including: the ability to plan, allot time, and determine the method, manner, and/or sequence of work performed. Must be a self-directed, self-starter who is motivated, organized, and willing to accept responsibility and accountability.
DECISION MAKING
The employee will be required to make numerous decisions on a daily basis with varying degrees of importance, ranging from establishing work priorities to major design and processing decisions. These decisions will affect personal workload as well as plant operations, product costs, product performance, customer satisfaction, warranty exposure, and organization profitability.
MENTAL DEMAND
The nature of engineering places a continuous mental demand on the employee. Close attention and focus are required to avoid mistakes and/or miscommunication with team KLINGER RCM USA members, and customers.
ACCURACY
The nature of engineering places a premium on accuracy; as such a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is required for this position.
PUBLIC CONTACT
The employee in this role will have extensive contacts with various diversified sectors of the public environment including foreign and domestic KLINGER RCM USA team members, customers, and suppliers. When in contact with these groups or individuals, it is critical that the employee represent KLINGER RCM USA in the most professional and courteous manner possible. Our reputation is critical to the success or failure of the organization.
EMPLOYEE CONTACT
The employee will interact on a daily basis with other departments of the organization including Sales, Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Scheduling, IT, and Management. This interaction will include problems solving, product development/testing, program management, strategic planning, and business development. Each requires that judgment and tact in presentation be used to obtain the cooperation and/or approval all team members involved.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
The Director of Engineering will provide direction and oversight by collaboratively setting goals and objectives, conducting weekly update meetings, and performing quarterly and yearly reviews of performance.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The employee will be expected to maintain regular and reliable attendance. Work hours are: Monday through Friday 8:00a – 5:00p (salaried positions are expected to work the number of hours necessary to complete assigned tasks according to established deadlines).
