Based in Middletown, RI, Child & Family is a private, nonprofit organization with a rich history of experience and expertise. Since 1866, it has worked daily to help the most vulnerable children, families, and seniors across Rhode Island. Services include early childhood education and care, housing for families with children, foster care services, evidence-based family preservation programs, counseling for seniors in times of struggle, and independent living programs for youth aging out of the child welfare system.

The Opportunity:

The VP of Finance will be part of an Executive Leadership Team that exhibits a passionate and collaborative culture and strongly advocates for Child & Family’s mission. The successful individual will provide organizational and functional leadership and direction in a complex environment guided by an inclusive spirit and a commitment to providing timely, accurate, high-quality information and service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the President and CEO to provide a financial perspective on agency initiatives and drive the Agency’s financial strategy.
• Lead the Agency in financial planning and analysis and will be responsible for all financial processes, including the annual budget, monthly forecasts, and long-range plans.
• Be flexible, solution-focused, innovative, and interested in seeking new opportunities to grow and build on the Agency’s success.
• Manage and supervise the Finance department staff to ensure processes are followed and work is completed accurately and in a timely manner.

The successful candidate will bring:

• Experience with state, federal, and grant revenue is required.
• Experience working in a human services, medical environment, or nonprofit organization is strongly preferred.
• Experience with financial models, collaborations with other nonprofits, mergers, and value-based contracting.
• Ability to communicate and effectively interact with a diverse population.
• Flexible mindset, with the ability to pivot as priorities change.
• Talent for identifying efficiencies and implementing process/policy solutions.
• Solid technology skills, including pulling informative data utilizing systems.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required.
• MBA or CPA is preferred.
