Human Resources Generalist - Bakersfield
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
POSITION TYPE/STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (hourly)
REPORTS TO: Human Resources Manager
SUPERVISES: Not a supervisory role

Position Purpose/Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for working closely with management in supporting designated business units. This role has responsibilities in the following areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding/separation, and policy implementation.
Shift/Hours:
Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM / Friday, 7:00AM – 4:00 PM.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide counsel to employees and managers regarding policies and procedures.
• Promote positive employee relations through communication and engagement activities.
• Coordinate recruitment efforts, including job postings, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews for qualified candidates.
• Conduct onboarding by creating conditional offer letters, background screening, pre-employment physical and drug screens, and adding new accounts in Paylocity.
• Assist with separations by preparing paperwork and final checks within a compliant period of time.
• Maintain accurate employee records in HR database.
• Generate HR reports as requested or scheduled.
• Oversee employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
• Attend and participate in employee coaching, disciplinary action, termination, and investigations.
• Assist with Leave of Absence administration.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
· At least three years of human resource management experience preferred.
· SHRM-CP a plus.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
· Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
· Must be able to drive a vehicle to access the organization’s facilities in various locations.
Pay Range: $31.25/hr. – $35.57/hr. discretionary bonus potential.
