Job Position: Commissioning Manager

Purpose: A driven and forward-thinking Commissioning Manager to lead commissioning process to include: start-up, testing, system checkout, client turn over and closeout. You will ensure the proper installation, operation, and conformance with project objectives and Knobelsdorff quality standards

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead for all operational aspects of the Commissioning team: safety, quality, schedule, staffing, logistics, and field operations.
  • Manage and lead all operational aspects as it relates to project commissioning.
  • Proven experience effectively managing personnel, equipment, timelines, customers, and general activities required to service the variety of O&M and commissioning needs.
  • Deep technical understanding of testing and startup procedures of different equipment types and manufactures.
  • Proven experience effectively leading and managing commissioning activities including estimating, planning, scheduling, proposal development, execution, billing, and customer close out.
  • Knowledge of current electrical codes and best practices.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and management skills, from immediate staff to remote personnel. Responsible for organizing, coordinating assignments for commissioning staff, and the development of a startup schedule to include milestones.
  • Ability to lead and participate in commissioning agreement negotiations with Customer, Suppliers, and other key partners, ensuring collaboration while managing risk.
  • Ability to develop and maintain key strategic relationships with various partners; both internal and external.
  • Proven technical background required to trouble shoot and provide guidance around expected plant system operation under startup parameters and temporary startup conditions.
  • Responsible for advising, documenting and reporting project design changes as necessary.
  • Ability to interface with clients, regulatory agencies, manufacturers/distributers, and other project stakeholders as required.
  • An adherence to high ethical standards that align with Knobelsdorff Values.
  • Network to improve market presence of the Knobelsdorff Commissioning group.
  • Ability to seek out and ensure the Commissioning teams have the required training and equipment to perform their jobs in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to develop process and procedure to ensure a systematic and safe approach to work being performed.
  • Ensure proper documentation is completed in regard to either bringing a plant on line or verifying performance of an operating plant.
  • Experience with the interpretation and performing a variety of testing procedures associated with verifying plant performance in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID's (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams)
  • Understanding of electrical instrumentation and control checkout procedures incorporating analog/digital I/O (point to point, loop checks, etc).
  • Previous knowledge in PLC, VFD and SCADA installations highly recommended.
  • Good critical thinking skills, with the ability to troubleshoot, identify solutions, and execute.
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to mentor and provide coaching to direct reports.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications included Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Manage project files, drawings, documents & records in our project system.
  • Great communication skills and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willing to work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Willing to be on call to address complications with little notice; ability to deploy, travel to site and facilitate the service call.
  • Willing to work on out-of-town projects.
  • Travel required. Must be able to deploy to a project for potentially for extended periods of time.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience forecasting resource requirements at 1-2-3 year term.
  • Ability to solicit input and develop a comprehensive commissioning plans on reoccurring basis.
  • Journeyman Electrician's License and 5-10 years of Electrical Construction Commissioning/Start-up experience.
  • A deep knowledge of electrical construction.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that represents a history of safe & competent driving.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, walk, and sit for long periods of time
  • Must be capable of working in inclement conditions to include extreme hot and cold temperatures.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 80 lbs.
