SUMMARY:
Safely and efficiently operates an electric/gas powered industrial truck equipped with forks, dumper, or other lifting devices, in warehouse areas. Loads and unloads trucks and rail cars. Stacks finished product in warehouse in designated area. Knows warehouse layout. Stages loads following shipping documents. Identifies product by commodity and product code. Knows product-stacking patterns. Completes appropriate documents. Inspects forklift equipment and supplies, and report condition, using a standard written checklist, on a daily basis. Notifies supervisor of any malfunctions. Reports any finished goods damage to the Supervisor immediately. Reports any concerns or signs of product tampering to the Supervisor immediately.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

1. Safely and efficiently operates an electric/gas powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forks, slip sheeter, dumper, clamps, elevating platform, or trailer hitch, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, or materials in the warehouse.
2. Inspects forklift equipment and supplies such as brakes, hydraulics, horn, lights, tires, oil level, and reports condition using standard written checklist on a daily basis. Records hour meter reading at the beginning and end of shift. Reports any equipment malfunctions or mechanical problems to supervisor for repair.
3. Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
4. Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials or hooks tow trucks to trailer hitch, and transports load to designated area.
5. Loads and unloads trucks and rail cars. Inspects product that is being shipped for Food Quality. Verifies product count and skids on truck. Counts number of broken skids.
6. Stacks finished product in warehouse in designated row by understanding location of commodities within the warehouse. Rotates stock as required.
7. Stages loads according to shipping document using proper product-stacking patterns.
8. Completes appropriate paperwork.\
9. Reports any Food Quality or Food Safety issues to the Supervisor immediately.
