Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics
- Conduct research in support of design proposals, specifications, and manuals to help evaluate the feasibility, cost, and/or maintenance requirements of designs
- Select and specify components or direct modification of existing products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
- Investigate product/equipment for out of specification conditions, assembly/use difficulties and/or failures to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations for improvements
- Document the structural design of products, using CAD design/drafting tools
- Test and analyze the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components, and systems
- Develop and test alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications, and necessity of modifications
- Evaluate manufacturing processes by reviewing design of equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components
- Assist in investigations of non-conformances and recommends corrective action to prevent reoccurrence
- Bachelor's degree Mechanical Engineering (ME) or Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) or a related program (i.e. Engineering physics)
- 2 years' experience in metal fabrication, industrial equipment, manufacturing equipment, cranes, or job shop industries ideal
- Experience with CAD 3D programs
- Experience with Creo or Inventor Solid Works and/or Solid Works EPDM strongly preferred
- Experience with the mechanical design of complex parts
- Blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
- Excellent Communication skills
