Position Details: The Litigation Investment Portfolio Analyst will be responsible for helping the firm develop a pipeline of litigation matters in which to invest, maximizing the firm’s return on those investments and supporting the firm’s relationships with litigation funders. The Portfolio Analyst will also provide qualitative and quantitative analysis to support key firm business decisions and support the day-to-day operations of the firm’s litigation finance affiliate, Blue Knight Capital and other affiliated businesses. Supervisor: The Portfolio Analyst will report to the Managing Director – Underwriting & Value Optimization (“MDU”). Primary Responsibilities: The following responsibilities should be carried out in accordance with firm protocols, policies and procedures and best practices. The below is not an exhaustive list but provides an expectation of the likely day-to-day responsibilities. Participate in strategic evaluation of potential investments through qualitative and quantitative analysis of litigation matters and potential fee structures Make recommendations to MDU on whether investments should be added to the firm portfolio Deploy and improve the analytical and reporting tools necessary to track the progress of investments within in the firm’s portfolio, model the potential outcomes of those investments, and monitor risks associated with individual investments and the overall portfolio Identify emerging legal disputes and channel partners likely to generate investment opportunities that align with the firm’s strategic pillars Monitor the firm’s compliance with the terms of complex engagements, including those involving third-party funders Assist with the preparation of term sheets, contracts and other documents related to investments Assist the MDU and Chief Strategy Officer in growing the firm’s litigation finance affiliate, Blue Knight Capital The ideal candidate will be a flexible and solution-oriented individual with the ability to translate complex data into concise, concrete recommendations regarding business decisions Candidates should have a strong academic record and a degree in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, statistics, economics, or finance) or data analytic field (e.g., political science, sociology, or psychology) Candidates should have up to 3 years of experience in a related field (e.g., investment analysis, risk management, or insurance underwriting) Candidates should have demonstrable experience with projects involving financial and/or statistical modelling in an academic or business setting Candidates with knowledge of basic techniques used in financial and statistical analysis, and related programing skills are strongly preferred Location: The ideal candidate will work out of the firm’s office in New York, but candidates in London; Washington, D.C.; Miami; or Sao Paulo will also be considered. This role requires three days per week in the office, preferably Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Salary: At the time of posting, the salary range for this role is USD $78,000 to USD $100,000. This range is based on a full-time work schedule. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus. The successful candidate’s actual salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, training, skills, and market data.
