Position Title: Corporate Controller

Location: Pompano, Florida

Salary: Up To $220,000 10% bonus and benefits.

My client is a leading real estate development and construction company based in Florida. They’re a dynamic organisation with 4 main areas of focus across construction and development. They have been established 20 years and have accumulated many awards.

Position Summary:

The Corporate Controller will oversee the financial operations of, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with all financial reporting and regulatory requirements. This role is critical to supporting the company's financial health and strategic growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in real estate development and construction, with a strong background in financial management and leadership. You will manage and oversee a team of 3 controllers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
• Coordinate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
• Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with department heads.
• Prepare and present financial forecasts and variance analyses.
• Provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and projections.
• Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Oversee tax planning and compliance, including income, property, and sales taxes.
• Manage cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.
• Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
• Optimize working capital and investment strategies.
• Collaborate with the executive team to develop long-term financial strategies.
• Evaluate and advise on the financial impact of business opportunities and strategic initiatives.
• Lead and mentor the accounting and finance team, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
• Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to staff.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA designation preferred; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Experience with Yardi and Timberline.
• Significant experience in the real estate development and construction industry.
• Proven leadership and team management experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively.
• Strong strategic thinking and business acumen.
