Summary: This contract Process Development Scientist/Engineer position is in the Process Development and Technology department. The selected candidate will be responsible for study execution at bench-scale and pilot-scale related to manufacturing support and process transfer projects. Responsibilities include cGMP documentation, data review, and writing technical documents. The incumbent will be expected to work effectively under general supervision and contribute to the team effort to support R&D projects. Note: This position is located in Clayton, NC Job Responsibilities: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the duties of this position successfully. The individual will perform protein purification techniques including but not limited to precipitation, chromatography, ultrafiltration/diafiltration, and filtration. The candidate will perform accurate technical/cGXP documentation of activities and analyze / interpret analytical results. The candidate will need strong technical writing skill to author study protocols and reports. Job Related Skills: Self-starter with strong work ethic and the ability to exercise good judgment. Ability to work well both independently and under direct supervision with demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize tasks to meet targeted deadlines. Must be proactive, results oriented, and have strong attention to detail. Experience identifying and solving technical problem. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with personnel at all levels in a team environment. Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). Requirements: The candidate must have experience in protein purification techniques at bench-scale and/or pilot scale processes. Degree must be within a relevant field: (Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Biology) Bachelors or Masters degree with 1 to 5 years of relevant experience. Directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Occupational Demands: Work is performed in a laboratory and pilot-scale production environment. Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Exposure to electrical office equipment. Exposure to chemicals. Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments and gloves. Frequently sits and bends neck for 4-6 hours per day. May stand and twist neck for 2-4 hours per day. Occasionally walks, bends and twists waist and squats. Moderate lifting of 25-50 lbs.
