Korn Ferry is Hiring a Vice President, Investor Relations Near Houston, TX

Our client seeks a Vice President/Investor Relations and Fund Management to service and expand its historical investor base, increase the size of its fund offerings, enable the Firm to make more significant investments with discretion, and meaningfully increase its assets under management. The successful candidate will preferably be housed in the Houston headquarters and report directly to the CEO, however well-suited candidates working remotely will also be considered. Additionally, to effectively perform its duties, the VP will actively interface with those in the Capital Markets, Asset Management, Development, and Financial Reporting departments.

The highest consideration will be given to those candidates with (i) at least seven years of work experience, (ii) tenure at a real estate fund manager, REIT, or a real estate or private equity investment firm, and (iii) a foundation in a quantitative-focused analytical role. A required prerequisite is experience in direct sales with a proven track record. Our client will provide an environment to gain valuable, first- hand experience in investor relations and fund management as a client-facing professional. The VP will also gain expertise in property/fund level analysis and reporting, valuation, and operations disciplines to succeed in its position.

Key Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • As the primary inception point for exposure to the client, in time, they are expected to become the “face” of the Firm for prospective investors, their advisors, counterparts in the industry, and those requiring information on the Firm
  • Formation and implementation of a marketing plan specifically designed to expose them to a broad-based universe of those intended to further the Company’s interests and convert relevant relationships into investors
  • Foster and cultivate investor relationships and enhance the investor relations function in concert with colleagues in other departments when appropriate
  • Ensure compliance with investor’s side letter covenants
  • Research and recommend the most efficient system for maintaining an Investor Database inclusive of contact and records management for soliciting and tracking all outside contacts under the VP’s purview
  • Research and recommend additional memberships in real estate and investment- oriented industry groups and associations
  • Formulate a marketing budget for print advertising, advertorials, and other avenues to expose the Firm to those constituents unaware of them and its mandates
  • Performing miscellaneous tasks to support the Investor Relations & Fund Management division; and other duties as directed by the CEO

The Candidate

Experience and Professional Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess the following characteristics:

  • Comfort within a collegial and family-oriented enterprise that eschews politics in its daily interactions among its staff and between them and those outside the organization
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • At least ten years of work experience
  • Foundational work experience that includes 2-3 years in a quantitative analytical role, preferably in real estate or private equity investing
  • A significant tenure in a sales-oriented position with a proven track record of success, preferably within an organization that focuses on real estate or private equity investing
  • Advanced computer literacy and tech skills, including a solid ability to create presentation materials, often with compressed timelines
  • Working knowledge of the investment and ownership lifecycle inherent in acquiring and developing industrial and office assets
  • A can-do attitude with a willingness to think through problems to arrive at a solution
  • The ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • An ability to adapt to the needs and communication styles required of one who will have significant interaction with multiple departments; and a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in which real estate investing is a cornerstone

Our client offers a competitive compensation package, including a market-based salary with bonus incentives based on individual and firm performance and a comprehensive benefits package for all full- time employees, including medical, dental, and vision insurance coverages, participation in an optional 401-K plan, and a PTO system with accruals based on tenure.
