Job Title: Director of Operations

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary:
Ensures successful operation of the organization, including, program development and evaluation, volunteer and staff recruitment and supervision, community relations, collaborations, facility management, risk management, budgeting and financial stability.

Essential Functions:
1. Supervises program directors overseeing program departments including Aquatics,

Wellness, Child Care and Sports. Responsible for direct supervision of Facilities and satellite branch departments. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen
First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members and the community.

2. Builds a dynamic team, which will include professional development plans for direct reports, coaching, recognition, and evaluation resulting in a high performing and cohesive team.

3. Ensures the operational growth of the YMCA through program expansion, pricing strategies, quality standards and community collaborations.

4. Develop annual program and performance goals and ensures staff are given the tools and oversight to complete those goals.

5. Implements and oversees program evaluation systems (YMCA best practices) to guarantee faithfulness to the Y’s cause, and a high-quality commitment to YMCA standards in all areas of the YMCA.

6. Oversees multiple directors in the development, monitoring and forecasting of their annual budgets. Monitors monthly financial reports to ensure that revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled.

7. Takes oversight and responsibility for the safety committee and ensures the safety of processes and procedures throughout the organization including program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.

8. Identifies potential areas for cooperative programming to accomplish YMCA goals and works with staff groups to develop and implement programs. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs and leads YMCA staff in the planning, development and implementation of new program initiatives and activities.

9. Provides leadership and reports to committees, the Board of Directors and the CEO’s
Executive Leadership team.

Operational Effectiveness: Possesses penetrating insight and strong strategic and critical thinking skills. Invests resources in well-designed innovation initiatives. Creates a structure to deliver organization-wide results to achieve objectives. Develops and implements stewardship strategies. Determines benchmarks and ensures appropriate leadership to meet objectives.

Personal Growth: Creates a learning organization. Effectively drives change by leveraging resources and creating alignment to expand organizational opportunities.
Shares authority and demonstrates courage and humility. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in related field.

2. Five or more years of professional experience in the YMCA preferred.

3. Knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations, including staff supervision and development, quality program development and implementation, volunteerism, facility and property management and sound financial practices.

4. Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff in each department.

5. Ability to effectively present information to public groups, Board of Directors and the CEO while positively representing the YMCA.

6. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community, track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.

7. YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification preferred.

8. Becomes certified in CPR, First Aid and Praesidium Guardian.

9. Must live in the area that the Kosciusko Community YMCA serves.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 per year
