The Role:
The Home Mortgage Community Lending Specialist Position (CLS) is responsible for soliciting loan applications, quoting rates and compiling information to submit a complete loan package to the Home Mortgage Underwriting Department. The CLS will be responsible for educating the community on our CRA programs, with a main focus of working with Low/Moderate income borrowers. The CLS will call on branches along with other external referral sources to generate loan applications.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Meets loan production goals as assigned by the Home Mortgage Sales Manager.
• Provides exceptional customer service.
• Solicits home mortgage loan applications from internal/external referral sources.
• Organizes homebuyer education and other types of financial literacy education opportunities for first-time and LMI homebuyers.
• Works with various government and non-profit agencies to coordinate the use of down payment assistance funds with eligible first mortgage loans.
• Works with bank employees to increase number and quality of mortgage referrals.
• Quotes rates and explains programs accurately and completely to borrowers.
• Compiles loan packages and relevant documentation to be submitted for processing.
• Coordinates with processor, customer, Title Company, etc. as necessary.
• Develops a productive team atmosphere with branches and the Home Mortgage Underwriting Department.
• Refers customers back to branch partners for possible cross sell opportunities when appropriate.
• Assists the Sales Manager with existing loans in process as needed.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
• Maintains working knowledge of loan product alternatives.
• Maintains a current understanding of stated procedures and policies, including regulatory compliance issues.
• High school graduate minimum.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to work with people in an efficient, friendly and professional manner.
• Strong computer and income analysis skills.
• Minimum 2 years direct experience in mortgage lending or related field.
