The Role:

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is expected to provide effective communication and influence as the driver of standardization of sourcing vendors, contracts, etc. He/She will assess status for benefit realization and assist in identifying areas for continuous improvement. The sourcing excellence analyst must have the ability to analyze a variety of products, technical requirements, delivery needs and financial ramifications of stocking, purchasing, delivery, and storing of materials for the corporation’s need. The sourcing excellence analyst will be exposed to all levels of management, both at the local level as well as the supplier level, to deliver year over year improvements in material cost, quality, availability and inventory. It is crucial that the sourcing excellence analyst develop an in-depth understanding of supplier capabilities in the marketplace. The sourcing excellence analyst will be working with confidential data and must be prudent in its use of interpretation. Strategic planning and thinking skills, coupled with analytical and execution skills are critical to the position.

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Analysis and control of the spend and the suppliers of plants, to ensure effective delivery of quality materials to maintain production schedules in a cost effective manner while leveraging strategic supplier relations and ensuring sustainable competitive advantage by owning the supplier development and qualification processes.

  • Drive cost saving efficiencies in the supply chain 
  • Develop short and long term plans to drive year over year savings on TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) approach
  • Engage in Kaizen events to help with cost-reduction projects.
  • Develop, document and deploy standard processes, based upon best practices, to ensure proper function and results within the Sourcing/ Supply chain department. 
  • Partners with internal functions (e.g. Engineering, Operations & Supply Chain) to develop tactical, operational activity of sourcing/supply chain processes.
  • Partners with Sourcing and Supply Chain leaders for effective implementation of sourcing/supply chain improvement initiatives
  • Effective communication skills, including verbal (logical and organized), written, listening and presentation
  • An excellent team player with strong people skills; able to build relationships at all levels of internal and supplier organizations.
  • Strong process analysis and documentation skills required
  • Design and implement sourcing strategies to attain year over year material cost reduction, material quality/delivery improvements and inventory reduction targets through the use of appropriate supply chain tools.
  • Work with engineering and quality to develop new suppliers with systems to support quick development, low cost and high quality.
  • Develop forecasts to help manage inventory levels and attain the desired inventory turns and investment at the lowest cost.
  • Meet with suppliers to review forecast requirements and resolve design, delivery, quality, and cost of materials problems.
  • Monitor and review the price, delivery and quality of incoming materials to maintain a dependable and high performing supplier base.
  • Assist marketing, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and others in the selection of components and suppliers to meet the production and MRO needs of the corporation.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a focus in power systems or equipment is preferred.
     Six-Sigma experience and quality experience are a plus
     Recognized certification in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management or Purchasing such as:
    APICS® Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
    APICS® Certified in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM)
    ISM® CPSM® Certified Professional in Supply Management®
  • A Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience in Electrical Manufacturing Industry (Engineer to Order Company) preferred.
