Job Description:

Seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Functional Data Analyst to join our Children and Family Services Project Team. The ideal candidate will be adept at utilizing Power BI for data visualization and possess strong SQL querying skills to support legislative workgroups and enhance our Legacy Support capabilities.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver comprehensive datasets.
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights into operational performance and strategic decision-making.
• Write, optimize, and validate complex SQL queries to extract data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
• Participate in stakeholder meetings to anticipate new questions, prevent last-minute data requests, and provide walkthroughs of datasets.
• Apply domain and dataset expertise to navigate nuanced data related to various DCFS operations and investigations.
• Contribute to the design and execution of data models and databases and provide documentation for all created or modified SQL queries.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to maintain and improve Power BI environments, facilitating a transition to self-service analytics.
• Mentor and train non-IT department staff and interns in data self-service capabilities and Power BI utilization.
• Engage with research partners and analytics team to streamline data request processes and analytical work.
• Act as a liaison between the data analytics team and operational leaders to support and inform data-driven decision-making.
• Support legacy report decommissioning and migration to modern Power BI reports fed by the Data Warehouse.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI and strong expertise in SQL.
• Experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing principles and experience in dataset management.
• Ability to interpret and analyze complex data to provide strategic business insights.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present data and insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Project management experience and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Knowledge of Child Protection and/or Child Welfare operations, policies, and procedures is a plus.
