Job Description:

FTT is a growing world class turbomachinery company in beautiful Jupiter, Florida USA which employs 180 engineers and technicians with over 4,000 combined years of aero engine (military and commercial), industrial, and space turbomachinery experience.

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. FTT will require proof of status prior to employment.

The Turbomachinery Manufacturing Engineering Fellow will have the training and experience to provide expert support of company projects for aerospace component manufacturing including championing best in class processes and procedures. Expert knowledge in castings, forgings, machining, with the ability to drive efficient manufacturing processes. The Turbomachinery Engineering Fellow will champion development of sourcing, traceability, and fielding of company products. The candidate must be able to provide technical input as a team member involved with design, manufacture, assembly, and test of aerospace turbomachinery components.

Experience and Skills:

Education and Experience:

Minimum B.S./M.S. Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field with a minimum 20-years of experience.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possess a deep practical and theoretical understanding of all major manufacturing processes use for critical highly stressed turbomachinery components utilized in land, air, and space propulsion applications.
  • Possess a strong background in developing cost effective, on premise and vendor manufacturing capability required for high value aerospace turbomachinery components.
  • Expert knowledge of manufacturing processes including, but not limited to casting, forging, machining, joining and heat treatment.
  • Experience with the failure analysis of materials.
  • Experience with manufacturing and traceability requirements for commercial aircraft development, qualification, certification, and production.
  • Must be able to develop quality specifications, procedures, standard methods, training material, and related documentation for manufacturing operations and processing of aerospace turbomachinery components. Develop standard work, procedures, and integrate aerospace industry-standard best practices.
  • Evaluate manufacturing non-conformances. Provide recommendations and drive corrective actions.
  • Must be able to work with suppliers to define and document requirements, address technical concerns, and provide project status.
  • Lead significant projects critical to improve manufacturing process capability & quality performance (ISO 9001 and AS9100).
  • Work closely with internal programs and manufacturing suppliers to provide in-situ evaluations, sampling, and testing services.
  • As a key team member, perform significant interaction with designer engineers, material engineers, quality assurance, systems designers, external suppliers, and other program stakeholders.Possess the discipline and follow-through to fully document problem statements, observations, conclusions, calculations, and recommendations.
  • Experience and capability to review and sign-off on component drawings for Manufacturing Engineering discipline.
  • Define manufacturing requirements and create manufacturing plans for lowest cost components exposed to extreme environments.
  • Possess a solid background in casting and forging processes.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to be able to effectively summarize, document, and communicate results to program stakeholders. Ability to make technical presentations internally and to customers.
  • Willingness to perform hands-on tasks and maintain laboratory equipment and facilities as required.
  • Identify and develop new suppliers for turbomachinery components.
  • Willingness to mentor less experienced engineers and laboratory personnel.
  • Other duties, as required.

Physical Demands:

  • Some light physical effort required. Will be required to perform occasional lifting of materials and packaging. Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend and move about the facility.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Required in designated laboratory or manufacturing areas while performing program support tasks requiring protection per health and safety requirements.

Work Environment:

  • Work performed in a combination of office, laboratory, and manufacturing facility environments.
  • On-site support in the FTT-Jupiter or other designated FTT engineering offices domestically and internationally.
  • Travel and off-site support to suppliers and manufacturing facilities per program support requirements.
  • Employee will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
