KUKA is Hiring a Payroll Specialist Near Sterling, MI

KUKA is seeking a Payroll Specialist responsible for processing US and Canada payroll within a shared service, team orientated environment. This individual will be the main point of contact for employee payroll and multi-state payroll tax inquiries. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be detail-oriented, and have the ability to work both as a team and independently. This position involves a high degree of confidentiality and compliance.

Location: Sterling Heights, Michigan (Hybrid)

Responsibilities include:

Payroll Processing / Maintenance

  • Processes multi-jurisdictional payrolls within Canada and US by completing the full Payroll Life Cycle Requirements – From Employee Record Maintenance, Pay Adjustments, Timekeeping, to processing and post-payroll reconciliation.
  • Responds to authorized requests for payroll data such as mortgage applications, verification of employment, unemployment claims, court garnishments, etc.
  • Supports all payroll configuration requirements including 3rd party interfaces & systems updates
  • Supports all timekeeping system requirements to ensure employees and supervisors are able to submit accurate and timely records to meet payroll deadlines.
  • Maintains all employee payroll records per company’s record retention policy.
  • Payroll Reporting
  • Completes post payroll reports including general ledger, payroll accruals, PTO, 401k contributions.
  • Processes accurate and timely year-end reporting payroll entries and adjustments as necessary.
  • Supports annual or quarterly audits which include payroll data

Tax Compliance

  • Ensures HR Team is compliant with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and taxes
  • Reconciles state and local tax filings provided by payroll service
  • Responsible for timely approval, verification & distribution of annual W-2/T4
  • Works with tax services to ensure that state tax registrations are completed when required.

Customer/Employee Service

  • Assists with day-to-day employee relations – answers payroll related questions.
  • Interface with other departments as required (Finance, Controlling, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot payroll system errors with a sense of urgency.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience processing payroll.
  • UKG, SuccessFactors and ADP Team Pay Preferred.
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations, State, federal local tax codes, and employment laws.
  • Advanced in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Acts with high level of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and with a diverse team
  • Must be reliable, resourceful, and a problem solver.
