We are a network of 3 comprehensive health centers, one convenient care center and six school-based health centers in Philadelphia.
Today, FPCN serves more than 15,000 patients annually and is a NCQA certified Patient-Centered Medical Home and recognized by HRSA as a National Quality Leader for Behavioral Health.
FPCN is opening Philadelphia’s First Birth Center; its collaborating hospital is the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. This brand new 30,000 sq ft space will feature exam rooms, birthing suites, community meeting rooms and a gorgeous community garden park. The Family Health and Birthing Center will provide full prenatal, birth, and postpartum care in Southwest Philadelphia. Services include education on nutrition, exercise, childbirth preparation, breastfeeding, infant, and self-care; and mental health and substance abuse therapy for those who need it. These services will be provided by interdisciplinary teams of professionals led by nurse midwives and doulas, including behavioral health specialists, addiction counselors, social workers, and registered nurses. Additional services will include transportation assistance; lactation counseling; prenatal and parenting education; legal services; and complementary mind/body services, such as yoga, massage, and meditation. All staff will have training in anti-racism, justice, diversity, and inclusion (A-JEDI), trauma-informed care, and sanctuary model practices.
Position SummaryThe Behavioral Health Site Director upholds the health center mission by assuring the delivery of high quality clinical and supervisory services that result in better health outcomes, strong consumer satisfaction; and that help maintain the fiscal and operational capacity of the Behavioral Health Dept.
Essential FunctionsProgram
  • Develop and implement services in response to community need as assigned by the Director or Associate Director of Behavioral Health.
  • Participate in supervising and monitoring job performance of other behavioral health clinical and support staff at site:
  • Review charts for quality assurance
  • Track clinician productivity
  • Supervise work of BH coordinator
  • Document supervisory sessions
  • Prepare employee evaluations
  • Manage schedule and partner with psychiatrists / Medical Director regarding psychiatric care for patients
  • Oversee team and interdisciplinary aspects of care at site
  • Supervise and review aspects of Behavioral Health Program activities as assigned by Director or Associate Director of Behavioral Health.
  • Participate on various Network or site committees as assigned.
Psychotherapy
  • Conduct an average of 52 sessions per month of individual, couples, and, family and/or group therapy.
  • Manage client load and assignment of cases for all clinicians at site.
Charting
  • Complete all charting as needed and required by contracted funding sources including: intakes, bio psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, service logs, and maintenance of psychiatric charting
  • Responsible for overseeing the charting of other therapists, psychiatrist, and student interns /trainees; ensure periodic audits of charts for site
Supervision
  • Participate in regular clinical and administrative supervision with the Director and/or Associate Director of Behavioral Health. (Participate in weekly clinical supervision sessions with licensed provider as mandated by APA guidelines depending on level of training and licensing status.)
Crisis Intervention
  • Be immediately available to Health Center staff during working hours in the event of a psychiatric emergency
  • Participate as a member of the Health Center staff in the event of any other kind of emergency
  • Participate in the emergency on-call rotation for mental health emergencies outside working hours (under licensed supervision if unlicensed)
Coordination of Care
  • Coordinate the care of clients with social work and primary care staff
  • Oversee referral of clients to other levels of care or other services as needed
  • Attend and participate in case conferences and primary care / behavioral health integration meetings as scheduled.
Continued Education
  • Maintain competencies in mental health and substance abuse as required by licensing board.
  • Maintain current Pennsylvania license to practice, OR attend supervision that meets APA guidelines for student and/or postgraduate practicum, as appropriate.
Qualifications
  • An earned Master’s Degree in a mental health field, with a primary course of study in provision of therapy and counseling services, or equivalent training post-degree
  • Minimum of three years’ experience as a therapist (can include student practicum experience if full-time and therapist received individual supervision from a licensed practitioner at least weekly)
  • Current license to practice in Pennsylvania if at the master’s level of training, OR working toward licensure if student or graduate at the doctoral level
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to supervise, work independently, and as part of a team.
  • Competency in working with individuals, families, couples, and/or groups with mental health problems, substance abuse problems, and/or the dually diagnosed.
  • Ability to maintain charts and provide reports as needed.
  • Required updated training on mental health and substance abuse.
  • Ability to utilize and follow all mental health and drug and alcohol licensing requirements of the state, insurance companies, and other funding sources.
  • Cooperates fully with FPCN’s compliance program
