Kwik Trip, Inc.’s Store Engineering Department is based in La Crosse, WI and services our 700 plus retail store locations in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa, and adding 40 - 60 per year. The coworkers in this department are responsible for designing, building, remodeling, and maintaining Kwik Trip, Kwik Star, and Tobacco Outlet Plus Grocery stores, as well as our car washes.

The Store Engineering Department has an opportunity for a Building Commissioning Manager. This position is responsible for providing direction and leadership on mission critical processes for New Store and Large Scale Rebuild Projects. The role is focused on using an integrated, systematic process to ensure, through documented verification, that all building systems perform interactively according to the "Design Intent."

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Analysis of past and future program performance with the ability to understand assumptions, risk and opportunities.
  • Determine the size and the responsibilities of the commissioning team for each site.
  • Train and mange crews effectively 
  • Ensure commissioning team adheres to the OSHA requirements of the projects.
  • Prepare detailed schedules of the building commissioning process for each project to include both pre-commissioning (cold commissioning) through final commissioning and testing.
  • Interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Design and develop reporting for the building commissioning process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, mechanical and/or electrical or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, MS Project Management and Computer-Aided Design (CAD).
  • Strong oral and written communication to project stakeholders.
  • Skilled project management practices
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and understand construction methods and materials.
  • Knowledge of construction equipment, practices, and principles.
  • Knowledge of commissioning methods and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of all commissioning tools, machinery methods and procedures and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of plans and specifications for major/complex projects.
  • Knowledge of commissioning activities reporting.
  • Ability to organize, instruct and supervise all commissioning crews in all facets of construction.
  • Ability to forecast, monitor, and estimate time and costs of commissioning activities.
  • Problem solving skills to handle issues when they arise.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within timelines.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to maintain and enforce discipline throughout the jobsite.

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, daytime hours. This position does include required travel, but some occasional overnights may be necessary.
