Pay Range - $122,491.15 – $177,362.83 (Actual base pay based on factors such as relevant experience, education, market, qualifications, and skills)

Manager, Automation and Tooling

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Manager of Automation and Tooling is responsible for the overall operation and efficiency of the equipment used in the manufacturing of products at the San Diego operation. This person will work with the Manufacturing team to ensure sufficient capacity and facilities conditions exist to support the business requirements.

The manager will be in charge of a team of technical staff with responsibilities to schedule the Automation and Tooling activities to meet the overall corporate requirements. It involves hands-on activities with automated equipment regarding the operations, programming, troubleshooting, commissioning and productivity of automated and integrated equipment.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of design or manufacturing engineering experience, with preference to Tooling design and automation initiatives
  • Experience in CAD/CAM is required. Experience with Solidworks is preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining and molding
  • Knowledge of conventional machining processes and procedures
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in supervision
  • Must be familiar with quality and lean principles
  • Must be well organized with multi-tasking abilities
  • Strong Project management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Intermediate MS Office skills, especially Excel.
    Experience with SAP strongly preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

oTracking and improving overall up time and efficiency of manufacturing equipment

oInstallation and set-up of new equipment

oEstablishment and control of Preventative Maintenance program for manufacturing equipment. Primary focus on equipment such as

ØHigh temperature ceramic co-firing furnaces

ØElectroless and Electrolytic plating systems

ØHigh temperature brazing furnaces and ovens

ØAutomated and semi-automated product assembly systems

oDaily & Monthly management of Departmental Profit and Loss budgets.

oLead a group of technical staff, giving necessary mentorship and feedback as required

oIdentify growth and training opportunities for staff development

oWork to create a positive, team-oriented work environment within the department, and with internal and external partners

oEvaluation, selection, and commissioning of Tooling and Automated equipment

oProvide Supply Management with the necessary information to source equipment as required

oIdentification of Tooling and Automation opportunities; make recommendations to improve production methods and equipment performance

oPerform any other related duties as required or assigned.
