Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Systems Safety Avionics Engineer to work in a fast paced and demanding environment. Our team defines system requirements, analyzes the design, assesses test data, reviews operating and maintenance manuals, and assesses risk through systems safety analysis. You must be flexible, dynamic and proactively communicate with your co-workers, management and customers alike. Essential Functions:
Perform Safety Analysis to include Preliminary System Safety Analysis, Functional Hazard Assessments, System Safety Assessments on aircraft components
Systems design analysis respective to potential avionics failure modes affecting functional hazards, fault tree analysis, common mode analysis, Failure Modes Effects Analysis
Define appropriate safety requirements and requirement validation and verification
Customer interaction and support
Support Design Engineering, Product Engineering, Quality Engineering
Ability to examine a system's design to evaluate hazards and assess risks as well as ensure the system architecture can meet the assigned probabilities for each hazard
Familiarity with the testing process to coordinate with test developers to ensure that tests adequately address the safety-critical aspects of the design
Experience using safety analysis tools such as CAFTA
Ability to quote and estimate work effort
Interfacing with customers, suppliers and internal functional groups (sales, marketing, customer support, etc.)
Help maintain and develop engineering processes
Assist in the design, test and maintenance of all products
Qualifications:
Requires strong knowledge of job area. Typically viewed as having a specialty within discipline. May have broad knowledge of project management. Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Must have 6 or more years of directly related professional experience in the aviation industry
Experience must include writing systems requirements and systems validation procedures
Experience with the application of ARP4754A, ARP4761 and MIL-STD-882E safety analysis processes
Knowledge of DO-178 and DO-254 processes
Must be able to work in the US with no sponsorship
Preferred Additional Skills:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline
Experience with aviation and/or avionics surveillance products (TCAS/TAWS/Transponders/Windshear), displays or flight data recorders
Good interpersonal skills and be able to work with multiple teams and directly with customers
Ability to take initiative to eliminate barriers and uses resources to ensure desired results
Fosters an environment that promotes creativity and innovation
Self-motivated with good communications skills
Able to work without appreciable management oversight and direction
