The Medical Operations Director is responsible for the supervision and coordination of all medical practice activities except those involving the clinical practice of clinical medicine. The Medical Operations Director will collaborate with other members of the leadership team to ensure efficient operations.


Accountabilities Include:

Performs Essential Job Duties

  • Ensure appropriate key performance indicators and data tracking systems are in place to monitor critical areas of medical operations, including but not limited to heath outcome metrics, supply, demand and utilization metrics, patient membership metrics, staffing levels and key financial indicators.
  • Use quality improvement practices and data driven problem-solving methods to identify high impact medical operations improvement areas, including operational risks, variation across sites, inefficiencies, or redundancies.
  • Use improvement analytics to design and execute medical operational improvement plans.
  • Ensure systems of standard work are built and executed across all medical operations.
  • Work with leaders to develop site, program, or team-specific tactical approaches to support the organization’s operational priorities.
  • Champion patient centered primary care home initiatives, including the growth and maintenance of patient centered primary care medical home recognition and applicable certifications for all medical service sites, including school-based health centers.
  • Collaborate with the finance and operational leadership team to develop, implement, and hold performance accountability for service area and team-based financials.
  • Ensures direct reports receive leadership coaching and development in alignment with the behavioral standards and accountable communication principles of the organization.
  • Ensure direct reports are accountable for specified performance accountabilities and report routinely on issues and successes that may impact other parts of the organization.
  • Collaborate with the Quality team, clinical leadership, and practice managers to ensure clinics follow all federal and state regulations, including regulations governing HIPAA and safety regulations. Ensure follow up on corrective action plans identified during best practice assessments.
  • Ensure the development, implementation and consistent application of policies and procedures that support the medical operational and financial goals.
  • Monitors and ensures appropriate standards of patient centered care and professionalism.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and privacy of patients, staff, and the organization.
  • Collaborates with site leaders, risk mitigation manager, health plans and patients to support resolution of patient grievances.
  • Completes assigned trainings via La Clinica’s learning module system (Relias) by required due date.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of the health care business environment.
  • Knowledge of clinic operations issues, including medical records, referrals and patient flow.
  • Knowledge of Healthcare Facilities Management principles.
  • Knowledge of Healthcare Risk Management principles.
  • Knowledge of Patient Centered Primary Care Standards.
  • Advanced interpersonal, oral and written communication and organizational skills.
  • The ability to comprehend verbal information/instruction, to exchange verbal information with others and the ability to present information/instruction verbally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people, including employees, patients, public officials, and the general public.
  • Ability to read and understand written materials and ability to compose information and instruction in written form.
  • Essential to be able to reason mathematically and to have analytical problem-solving skills.


Education and/or Experience:

Required:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in business, health care, or related field.
  • At least four years of operations management experience.
  • A combination of at six years of health care experience and four years of leadership experience may be substituted for minimum educational requirements.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in business, health care, or related field
  • Lean certification or Certified professional in health care quality (CPHQ)
  • Certified practice coach in primary care transformation
  • HIPAA compliance certification
