Wage Range: $18.27 - $21.81

Essential Job Functions

Maintains accounting records in accordance with prescribed rules, regulations and procedures.

Accesses, inputs and retrieves financial and related data on a computerized system.

Enters data on accounts payable in County's accounting system with speed and accuracy.

Enters data, including receipts, into the computerized scale software system, as needed.

Consolidates drawer receipts and prepares bank deposit daily. Processes and maintain day-end reports.

Prepares bills for interdepartmental/customer billings.

Checks and verifies expense accounts and other records.

Reconcile simple accounts involving detailed records, as needed.

Collects delinquent or over-due accounts.

When needed, supports answering phone and referring telephone calls, greeting and referring the public.

Performs routine clerical tasks such as recording, sorting, typing and filing, and maintains base knowledge of scale operations.

As directed by Supervisor, Employee is expected to provide support in all divisions of the Solid Waste Department to meet Departmental and County goals.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of bookkeeping principles, budgetary accounting, and ability to produce computerized records, reports and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to make rapid mathematical computations either manually or by machine.
  • Ability to input, access and retrieve information on a computerized system with speed and accuracy and maintain a heavy load of data entry.
  • Ability to locate and correct errors made on data input.
  • Skills and ability in the operation and care of calculators, computers, copiers and other office and computer equipment.
  • Knowledge of up-to-date office methods, machines and procedures.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills.

Training, Experience and Other Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related.
  • Experience in financial record-keeping including accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash receipting.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven proficiency and expertise in using Excel spreadsheets, MS Word and MS Outlook.
  • May consider other combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job duties.
