La Crosse Sign Group of Madison, Inc. is Hiring a Sign Installation and Service Technician - Greater Madison, WI Area Near Madison, WI

An Installation and Service Technician at La Crosse Sign Group is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various types of signs, including illuminated signs, non-illuminated signs, digital displays, and more. This role is customer-facing and crucial in maintaining La Crosse Sign’s reputation for superior quality and customer service. The Installation and Service Technician needs to be detail-oriented, with strong technical and critical thinking skills, a high commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

What You’ll Do:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Install and/or service a wide variety of signage, including illuminated, non-illuminated, digital displays, pylons, monuments, wall signs, channel letters, flex faces, vinyl, and others.
  • Work as part of a team to load/unload trucks, layout patterns, drill walls, set anchors, dig holes, install electrical conduit and wiring for different types of signs.
  • Perform maintenance and repair on existing signs to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess installation requirements and determine the best approach for sign placement.
  • Operate and maintain various tools and equipment, including ladders, lifts, power and welding tools, torches, and measuring devices.
  • Work from crane truck, bucket truck, ladders, and other lift equipment. Will work at various heights.
  • Transport signage to destination and prepare worksites by removing unwanted signage and clearing old wires and electrical docks.
  • Read and interpret production/installation prints, diagrams, and technical instructions to ensure accurate installation and repair work.
  • Install signs following the strict instructions provided within each work order.
  • Make final electrical connection to electrical docs as instructed by the customer/electrician and ensure that electric wiring is properly grounded.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Coordinate with onsite customer contacts to ensure projects are completed to their specifications.
  • Document and report all work performed, including any issues encountered and solutions implemented.
  • Fabricate metal parts such as steel frames and columns in accordance with blueprints and installation instructions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and advancements in sign installation and maintenance techniques.

What You Need:

  • Installation/Construction work experience preferred
  • Technical training, knowledge or certification in sign installation, electrical work, welding, or related field preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints and diagrams
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, as well as other equipment relevant to sign installation and maintenance
  • Must have valid Class D driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Crane certification (La Crosse Sign will assist role in obtaining)
  • Ability to obtain within six months of hire, and maintain a Class A CDL (La Crosse Sign will assist role in obtaining)
  • Understanding and ability to adhere to safety standards
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work at various heights and weather conditions

Working Conditions:

Operates in a demanding, fast-paced, people-oriented environment with routine exposure to dirt, noise, temperature variance, variable weather conditions, chemicals, and solvents. Works primarily on ladders, scaffolding or aerial lifts that can range from 20’ to over 100’ above ground. Deadline pressure is an integral part of the job with the potential for managing multiple project assignments. Works with a variety of people including vendors, customers, employees, and leadership.

Required Work Schedule:

Work hours are generally during normal operational hours 6:00am to 4:00pm Monday-Thursday with variable hours on Fridays, and an average of at least 40 hours a week. The ability to work overtime, travel overnight and out-of-town is required. There may be small variations in work hours due to special projects, changes in installation schedule to meet customer deadlines, training new and existing staff, and responding to critical service calls.

Physical Requirements:

Will alternate walking, sitting, and standing throughout work shift. Ability to work in a variety of positions including, but not limited to kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, turning, and climbing. Must be able to climb and stand on a ladder for periods of time. Ability to lift and carry 50pounds at times during the shift. There is regular use of the keyboard, tablets and telephone. Requires the ability to receive detailed information through verbal communication. Vision acuity corrected to 20/40.

Pay: $22.00 - $33.00 per hour
