La Fond Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced veterinary assistant to join our team. We are also willing to train the right individual. We are looking for someone friendly, motivated and reliable. We are an independently owned veterinary hospital located on the border of Ferndale and Detroit in the lovely Green Acres neighborhood. We see clients and pets from all of the surrounding areas. We were established in 1929 and are proud of our long history of taking great care of our clients and patients in the area. We provide thorough and compassionate care at a reasonable price for our clients and patients. We are well equipped with newer surgical equipment, dental machine, digital xray and are getting Idexx inhouse bloodwork machines to add to sending labs to Idexx. We are a one Doctor practice so you will be working alongside the Doctor and will be able to utilize your skills and add some new skills.

We are currently working four 12-hour shifts with one hour unpaid lunches as possible. We are working one Saturday each month. Duties include setting up the practice for the day. Helping to check in patients and checking them out. Engaging with clients with a friendly and helpful attitude. Obtaining a medical history from the owner and restraining for the Doctor to perform an exam. Drawing up vaccines and other medications and administering them under the supervision of the Doctor. Assisting in pharmacy to count out medication, place labels and go over medications with owner. Must be able to assist in surgery including assisting with drug calculations and administration and monitoring of patients during surgery and post op. Intubation and IV catheter placement or willing to learn. Training will be provided. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, be able to stand for long hours, and take radiographs. Helping to take care of inventory including assistance with ordering as needed. Assisting with teammates as needed including assisting with phones if the customer service representative is busy.
