General SummaryLa Jolla Group is seeking an Inventory Analyst to join our dynamic Planning & Analytics team. This role will play a central role in identifying and executing inventory optimization strategies via velocity segmentation and channel allocation. You’ll use your analytical skills to create inventory classifications based on SKU sales velocity profile and identify optimal channel allocation. You’ll then use your communication and influencing skills to confidently summarize your findings and collaboratively implement action plans that will maximize return on inventory. Essential Job Functions
  • Inventory Velocity Segmentation (40%)
  • Analyze sales velocity trends, future order file characteristics, product lifecycles, and inventory volume to optimize warehouse inventory slotting by season and channel.
  • Communicate inventory slotting profile to distribution center partners and provide additional analytical support required to achieve optimal SKU location strategies.
  • Forecast the impact of promotional events on SKU velocity segmentation and communicate to distribution center partners.
  • Inventory Allocation (40%)
  • Identify potential inventory and sales risks by analyzing SKU sales velocity by channel relative to channel inventory ownership.
  • Develop action plans to manage risks by defining SKU lifecycle progression (full price > markdown > liquidation) and channel inventory allocation plans.
  • Secure buy-in from key stakeholders for inventory allocation action plans.
  • Ensure effective execution of action plans to minimize excess inventory and maximize margin.
  • Data Management / Support (20%)
  • Collaborate with Planners to maintain accurate projections of future inventory purchase and flow.
  • Maintain inventory related reports in support of S&OP and other reporting channels across the organization.
  • Deliver actionable insights from data analysis to support various business goals through ad hoc requests.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Advanced Excel and data management skills (lookups, pivot tables, nested functions, etc.)
  • Confidence calculating and interpreting inventory metrics: months of supply, inventory turn, sell through, etc.
  • Ability to leverage data insights to recommend and implement effective inventory allocation strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present findings and secure stakeholder buy-in.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple project timelines while ensuring high quality work.
  • Ability to quickly adapt tactical execution in response to changing business dynamics.
  • Ability to thrive in a hybrid working environment through open communication and self-discipline.
  • Apparel industry experience a plus.
Required Education And Experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in a seasonal multi-channel business environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Supply Chain, or equivalent field
Physical Requirements Seeing: Must be able to see well enough to read reports.
Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with customers, vendors and employees.
Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: Must be able to stoop or kneel to pick up products.
Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
