Salary: This is an unpaid internship. This may count towards your fieldwork hours, but must be cleared with your university first. POSITION SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Principal and School Counselor, the School Counseling Intern will be responsible for tasks that support the academic success of all students and promote a positive learning environment. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES * May include but not limited to transcript review and updating, meeting with students to discuss Individual Graduation Plan, monitor student progress and credit recovery efforts through APEX Learning platform, provide student and parent workshops around post-secondary planning topics, attend parent meetings with teachers and administrators, plan school-wide events, and conduct check-ins with caseload of students. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience * Bachelor's Degree required * Co-enrollment in PPS School Counseling graduate program * Masters coursework completion preferred but not necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Excellent verbal and written communication skills required * Exceptional relationship building skills and the ability to communicate clearly to multiple stakeholders * Extremely strong classroom management abilities * A strong belief that all students can succeed * A do-whatever-it takes attitude including a willingness to work occasionally on the weekend or in the evening * Passionate about improving public education to help all children reach their dreams * An exceptional ability to respond well to feedback and implement it immediately * A strong ethical base and self-awareness * Bilingual Spanish preferred * Commitment to LA Promise Fund mission and values * Must clear a LiveScan criminal background check * Must clear a TB Risk Assessment * Must complete Mandated Reporter training * Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination COMPENSATION This is an unpaid internship.
