Job Summary

Under general supervision, is responsible for customer service activities in a particular department, involving the handling of requests and/or complaints regarding City services. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. Exercises no supervision.

Essential Job Functions

• Answers telephone, takes information, refers calls to proper departments.
• Provides information regarding city services, functions, attractions, transportation, schedules, etc.
• May greet tourists and visitors in person or by telephone and answer questions
• Inputs data and maintains databases.
• Compiles and prepares information and reports as requested.
• May prepare badges and registration information.
• May collect money using various payment methods.
• Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
• One (1) year experience dealing with the public servicing client/customer requests.
• Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Skill in utilizing a personal computer and associated software programs.
• Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other basic office equipment.
• Ability to establish and maintain good public relations with the general public and City staff.
• Ability to read a map and give detailed directions.
• Ability to operate a telephone and other basic office equipment.
• Ability to respond to inquiries, complaints, and requests.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

Working Environment:

Work is performed indoors operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi- functioning printer and calculator. Ability to travel frequently to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business related events. 

Physical Demands:

• Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

• Ability to use upper and lower extremities to move or transport 25 to 50 pounds, including pressing against something to force it in a forward, downward or outward position or drag, haul 25 to 50 pounds

• Ability to bend the body downward and forward by bending spine at waist, and bending legs at knees and moving extremities in any direction

• Ability to withstand physical demands on the body, including being in a stationary and/or standing position most of the day

• Ability to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word, including where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly

• Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information
