ResponsibilitiesThe Used Car Manager oversees and maintains days to market expectations and quality control of the preowned inventory by managing the reconditioning process while prioritizing cost, quality and profitability.
- Manage all aspects of the dealership's used car department, including inventory management, pricing strategies, and sales operations.
- Develop and implement effective strategies to acquire, appraise, and purchase pre-owned vehicles for resale, ensuring a diverse and high-quality inventory.
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and appraisals to accurately assess trade-in values and potential resale opportunities.
- Establish pricing guidelines and negotiate purchase prices with customers and wholesalers to maximize profitability and maintain competitive pricing.
- Oversee the reconditioning process for used vehicles, coordinating with service and detailing departments to ensure they are showroom-ready for sale.
- Lead a team of sales professionals, providing coaching, training, and guidance to optimize sales performance and achieve departmental goals.
- Prepare vehicles for wholesale auctions.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Used Car Manager in a dealership setting is required
- Proficiency in CDK and experience with Vauto/Profit Time are both a plus.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of sales professionals to achieve performance targets.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers and industry contacts.
- Knowledge of automotive market trends, pricing strategies, and valuation methods.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- You must have or acquire a valid California Vehicle Salesperson License
- The estimated annual earnings for this position are $150,000.00 - $300,000.00 after factoring in all forms of compensation including salary, commissions, bonuses, etc.
- Employees in this position will receive a base salary of approximately $6,000.00 per month, plus commissions and bonuses based on performance.
