Description
Summary: The Security officer is responsible for keeping our employees, our buildings, and grounds safe and secure. Must communicate any issues in real time and ensure the proper steps are taken to address the situation. During any emergency situation the Guard Building is the hub for communication and management of unwanted events. Keeping confidentiality of the department’s activities is of the utmost importance and must always be adhered to. Must be alert at all times, monitoring surveillance, parking lots, entrance ways and flow of people traffic. The accurate scaling of incoming milk is a top priority as it is our number one resource.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Communicate with security Supervisor, or other staff to resolve problems.
• Ensures incoming milk loads are processed accurately following all protocols in place and reports and issues to supervisor.
• Adhere to visitor entry log, do not allow visitors in unless they are on the log, the only exception is unannounced regulatory entities.
• When asked by management, be able to look up license plate and or tag numbers in order to correct parking violators of safety and security.
• Accurately reads meters as required and enters the data in the proper spreadsheet.
• Follow crisis management procedure based on the different unwanted events.
• Patrol site to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
• Ensures all facilities, grounds and parking lots are properly lit, reports any areas not in compliance.
• Evict trespassers, rude violators, or other security threats from the premise.
• Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
• Monitor access and flow of inbound and outbound vehicles to prevent unsafe conditions related to traffic.
• Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
• Answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours.
• Respond to medical emergencies by administering basic first aid or by obtaining assistance from paramedics.
• Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
• Extended or off work hours may be required.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree required.
• Ability to perform a multitude of tasks.
• Strong communication abilities, written and verbal.
• Knowledge of computer software: Microsoft Word, Excel, Lotus, Power Point.
• New York State Security Officer Licensure.
