Laguna Development Corporation is Hiring a Chief Operating Officer Near Albuquerque, NM

Position Title: Chief Operating Officer

Department: Corporate General Administration

Employment Classification: Exempt

Reports to (Supervisor Title): CEO

Position Summary/General Description:

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key executive responsible for overseeing the business operations while ensuring there are effective and efficient operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures and systems in place to ensure financial strength and operational efficiency. The COO in collaboration with CEO and the executive team will develop and implement business strategies and plans in the areas of operations (Casino, Food & Beverage, Sales & Marketing, Retail, and Information Technology) to achieve organizational goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Work with the CEO and LDC Board on expansion and growth strategies.
Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of LDC.

Serve as the management liaison to the board and board committee; effectively communicate and present critical financial matters at board of directors and committee meetings.
Direct short-term and long-term planning and budget development to support strategic business goals.
As a Member manager of LDC subsidiaries, will actively and directly manage all assigned subsidiary operations.
Directs mergers and acquisitions to meet organization goals.
Lead assigned senior executive team to ensure proper, effective and efficient use of resources.
Direct company operations to meet budgetary and other financial goals.
Establish the performance goals, allocates resources and assesses policies for his/her designated areas.
Develop, establish and direct execution of operating policies and business strategies to support overall company policies and objectives.
Ensure that the desired level of customer service and satisfaction is achieved and maintained throughout the various business entities.
Demonstrate leadership skills in managing a diversified operation.
Demonstrate success with P&L’s within the gaming/hospitality industry
Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Work effectively with the general public and staff.
Work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions.
Knowledge of database and accounting computer application systems to supply the most accurate financial information.
Exercise tact, courtesy and initiative in handling routine problems.
Serve as President in the absence of the President.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field required, with preference given to a Masters of Business Administration.

10-15 years’ work experience in, preferably the hospitality/casino business, and demonstration of executive competencies:

EBITDA responsibilities;
Decision making;
Strategic thinking;
Ability to influence;
Vision & Alignment;
Exceptional motivation skills; and
Outstanding communication skills.

Eight to ten years of experience in financial management with increasing responsibilities for multi-faceted direction and planning.
Demonstrate success with P&L’s, managing multiple departments, staff and operations functions within the gaming and hospitality industries.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Licensing & Certification:

None.

Computer Equipment, Software, Machinery:

Knowledge of database and accounting computer application systems to supply the most accurate financial information.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Knowledge of Kronos (timekeeping software) and Paramount (purchasing software).

Essential Physical Requirements:

Requires employee to hear, sit, talk, and read the majority of the time.
Requires employee to occasionally stand, walk, drive, and repetitive use hands.

Essential Mental Demands:

Requires the ability to solve problems, organize, plan, make decisions, interpret data, read and write the majority of the time.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position manages the senior executive team and is responsible for the performance management and input regarding hiring and retention of senior-level management.

Work Environment (inside/outside):

Duties are performed in a professional office environment. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel is expected.

Other Requirements:

Obtain and maintain a gaming license through the Pueblo of Laguna’s Gaming Control Board and multiple state licensing districts and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Must pass a pre-employment alcohol/drug screening.
