This is a stellar opportunity responsible for leading the development of novel AAV development platforms. This is a once-in-a-lifetime Global Expat leadership opportunity within the World’s Largest biologics CDMO/CMO expanding to 720,000L total mammalian cell culture manufacturing capacity with commercial monoclonal antibody, Cell & Gene Therapy and ADC manufacturing capabilities. You will be charged with overseeing the following activities:

* Leading the conception, design, and implementation of novel innovative AAV vector development platforms.

* Establishing and optimizing cell culture systems for AAV production, including the development of high-yield, suspension-adapted cell lines (e.g., HEK293, Sf9) and the fine-tuning of bioreactor conditions for maximal vector output.

* Developing and validating scalable transfection and baculovirus-based expression protocols that maximize AAV yield while maintaining vector quality and functionality.

* Designing and implementing efficient downstream processing strategies, including advanced chromatography (affinity, ion exchange) and ultracentrifugation techniques, to ensure high-purity AAV preparations.

* Overseeing the development and validation of a comprehensive suite of QC assays (qPCR, ELISA, SEC-MALS, AUC) to rigorously assess AAV quantity, purity, and potency.

* Guiding the translation of lab-scale processes to pilot scale, addressing challenges in scale-up and ensuring GMP compliance at every stage.

* Collaborating with Regulatory Affairs to ensure that platform development aligns with FDA, EMA, and other global regulatory expectations.

* Mentoring, guiding and leading a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

* Contributing to business development by presenting platform capabilities to clients, conferences and industry whitepapers as well as analyzing technical trends in the global AAV therapeutics market.

Preferred Candidate Background and Expertise:

* 10 years of Biotechnology industry experience leading AAV vector development from within a C> CDMO/CMO.

* MS or Ph.D. in Virology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering or related Life Sciences field.

* Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to inspire and guide multidisciplinary teams.

* Demonstrated track record of developing and implementing novel AAV production platforms, evidenced by patents, publications, or successful tech transfers.

* In-depth knowledge of AAV biology, gene therapy applications, and current challenges in the field.

* Expertise in cell line development, bioreactor operations, and viral vector purification.

* Proficiency in analytical techniques for vector characterization (qPCR, ELISA, SEC-MALS, etc.).

* Excellent understanding and working knowledge of cGMP and C> product development lifecycles and regulatory filings (BLA, MAA, IND).

* Ability to build and maintain strong, positive relationships with customers.
